What is different this week? Sales took a dive.
What is different this week? Sales took a dive. Since the Inform Act, nothing seems normal, sale never went back to the same levels and now is like a car sputtering running a bit and almost stopping, running a bit sputtering again.
Can't say it's Amazon, the same is happening on all platforms, BTW, I sell discretionary items, for example, a "footstool", no one really needs one, but if they have a few bucks extra, they'll buy it. Not that I sell footstools, just an example.
Perhaps people going back to paying for their student loans. One of my friends just paid hers in a lump sum, when she realized it was no longer 2.5% but a whopping 7%, or about 3/5 of her payment was just interest.
The local malls really seem emptier, but I think their heyday is past. Whatever it is, this is about the time of change of spending habits, summer is gone hello fall.

This might be something: I went to check for Amazon outages and a few buyers report something similar to this:
"Since last night, this message keeps popping up when trying to order: You cannot buy this item because it's out of stock"
Also getting error message saying "item not in stock"
i keep getting item out of stock when not
check my listing they look fine, Any ideas?

There could be a few factors.
Some thought starters, if your item is geared towards a younger audience (you can always check and verify who are your buyers in the audience tab), student loans 100% will have an impact on your sales.
But if your buyer is more spread out, check a few product keywords on Google Trend and it should give you some general guidance on the search demand (you can also verify this through Amazon's keyword report).

That’s the same thing the people in my discord asking. I have 3 listings with lowest price and nothing sold.

My sales jumped up the first 10 days of the month and took a nose dive the last 5 days. I sell books but most sales this month were not textbooks. Of course, the economy is in recession despite what politicos are telling us. I suspect it will get worse until it cycles back to a better situation.

I've also noticed many major brands and influencers on social media promoting the acquisition of products in physical stores. This doesn't help us as an online marketplace since it directs potential customers even more towards buying from brick-and-mortar stores. I've analyzed this with three major brands, whose names I'll keep confidential, but on their social media, I see photos and videos of products being placed in physical store shopping carts. This keeps the idea in consumers' minds that it's better to buy products in physical stores, especially when they watch influencers handling and placing the products in the cart from the comfort of their homes, along with an invitation to visit these big stores. I believe we should create a strategy with influencers to counteract this trend since, personally, these posts I observed strongly encourage people to visit physical stores."

we have had zero sales since September 4th. seller support is not helpful.....
This may have more to do with the economy and out of country sellers selling below wholesale. When you google 'competition' addresses and see non-existent businesses (a vacant residential lot or UPS store front) then you have to wonder what is going on with Amazon checking a seller's credentials.
I've been on this platform from nearly 10 years...this is the worst ever.....

Mabye lies in:
1. The CN sellers have more 10,20,50,100,1000 different accounts, if one suspend, they go on seling immediately by another one;
2. Amazon suspend the seller account, but did not suspend their brand at the same time, so the seller can go on selling by many of his other accounts under the sane ASIN and Brand immediately
3 90% CN sellers are buying fake Reviews, fake orders at Amazon.
4. If ASIN or account suspend, AMZ CN employees will help them Reinstate immediately after took money from the seller. Because the Sernior account manager can take USD 5000.0/month/account/Market from the seller.
If so, how to compete with them?

That is a big problem.

Our experience was similar to @Books_by_Lawrence but we both are booksellers. Our sales were lousy last week, including the weekend- usually strong sales days, Picked up to normal Thursday night/yesterday and today.
Since Friday(15th) was a pay-day, makes me believe more folks are living from paycheck to paycheck, especially as far as buying "nonessentials" . Those who have children in school had to purchase new clothes, shoes, school supplies which includes all sorts of paper products which used to be provided by the school.
Plus, gas here in S. AZ is now $4.25 a gallon. A friend said in N. CA it was nearly $6!! In Tucson/Phoenix, they're catching guys siphoning gas from stranger's cars-I suppose so they can drive their own!!
With all the financial pressure, surprised we're having any sales!!
