All FBA Orders Stuck in a Pending State

Hi everyone,

Our store currently has 501 FBA orders stuck in a pending state due to 'Awaiting payment verification'. Some of these orders have been in this state for over two weeks, all showing the message: "Amazon has been unable to obtain authorization for the buyer's credit card yet." While we understand it’s normal to have a few orders occasionally waiting for credit card authorization, it's extremely unusual (and has never happened in our 10+ years of selling on Amazon) for every FBA order over the past two weeks to be affected like this.

We’ve opened a support ticket, but we keep getting generic responses stating that Amazon has reviewed the issue and confirmed their systems are functioning properly. Does anyone have any suggestions for resolving this issue or escalating it with Amazon support?

If any Amazon support staff are reading this, the ticket ID is 16503933411.

We’d greatly appreciate any help, as this issue is severely impacting our business.

Thank you!

We've also had a large increase in pending FBA orders recently. But of course, Amazon will always deflect the issue and blame with their responses.

We have always had 100's of orders in the "Awaiting payment verification" status.

We assume it's because the item is in their cart but have not yet actually checked out, therefore comes the "Awaiting payment verification" notice.

That's just our theory and we don't worry about these orders as they haven't officially been purchased.

But it seems like Amazon Seller Support would be able to explain this.

Just an opinion but it doesn't seem like this is Amazon's fault/issue, it's the buyer who has yet to commit to the purchase. (If our theory is true). Buyer's can have items in their cart for as long as they choose. Either they will proceed with the purchase or "Save for Later" which I've personally done as a buyer on my personal account.

Just a theory....curious to see if a mod will jump in and give an explanation.

HUGE uptick in the same issue for me recently as well. Some FBA orders are still going through, but 75%+ increase in orders awaiting payment confirmation. Increase just started for me earlier this week. Also had some weird things happening with my FBA inventory this week like an item i had plenty of FBA stock for that randomly went to showing 0 available and listing inactive due to out of stock. Hate to hear more are having the same issue but also happy that it's not just me. I'm gonna just wait it out and see if it resolves itself.

Same issue happened to this seller, see thread below:

https://sellercentral.amazon.com/seller-forums/discussions/t/3475cb69-9678-4fd5-9630-51d81e837e7c?postId=224cc77f-df10-46ee-b693-77e1b59653aa

There is definitely something wrong but as usual with Amazon the mod looking into it @KJ_Amazon Provided ZERO input. The OP provided tons of data and insight but issue is still unresolved and Amazon has provided no actions or investigations that they have taken.

I'm dealing with a similar issue. I'm also receiving returns with feedback stating that the item wasn’t shipped on time. Since I sell toys and collectibles, many of my products are bought as gifts for birthdays and other occasions. While it's true that buyers should plan ahead, Amazon still has a responsibility to meet their shipping guarantees. It makes me wonder—if I were a FBM seller, would I get the same leniency from Amazon when shipping orders late?

I have heard that some competitors do this. Is this possible in your case? Over the years, I have had a few "Pending Orders" that I thought was competitor driven. One was pending for about a month. When it was cancelled (either by Amazon or the customer), it dropped out of my inventory. I had to add it back.

Just curious, do the ASINs that are pending without shipping have Parent/Child setups or are they individual products with ZERO relationships?

Hello @Seller_vzR4Ac6p9I7c2 I asked our partner team to review that Case ID and investigate any possible issues with those pending FBA orders.

They reached out to you in Case 16575097741 to share updates and request information if needed.
