Error 5461: Unable to edit our own listings

Hello Everyone - We’re facing an issue over the past few months that has been very frustrating. We are manufacturers and private label sellers.

Many of our items have a “5461” error, which we’re unable to get rid of. We have spoken to Seller Support a thousand times, but they seem to have never come across this error.

The error is seen any time we try to edit the item through the website or through a flat file:
“We have identified potential matches for the product you are trying to list in the Amazon Catalog. Please review our ASIN Creation Policy at: https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/help/201844590. If your product is not listed in Amazon catalog and needs to be listed with a new ASIN, please contact Seller Support at https://sellercentral.amazon.com/hz/contact-us and mention error code 5461.”

This means that we’re unable to make any edits to those items. I have searched the internet, but we seem to be the only ones with this error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you say that you spoke to seller support, I am assuming that you request call back through seller support page. The calls are attended by Philippines and they have absolutely no clue whatsoever on any matters related to seller support. They just “attend” calls and then they pass the case on to someone else

I would recommend you leave negative feedback for every seller support who haven’t advised you accurately. This is the only way we can lend some insight to their Under performance and incompetence.

And then open a case (not call back, I mean open a proper case) during the day, specially early hours of the day like between 5-7 and you could be lucky to get someone from Cape Town or Cork who are excellent with seller support as they are captive sites with all the tools to work for and thoroughly professional too. They would give you accurate advise as to what the status of your listings are.

Now my thoughts are these. Are you sure you are the manufacturer or do you mean that you brand existing goods in your own name? If you are doing this, it is likely that the original manufacturer has reported some violation and quiet rightly so because you cannot re-brand goods and sell it in your name. If you want to sell the same goods, list it under the same brand and not attempt to make it your own. Amazon will not allow you to create your own listings separately if the same article exists as appears to be happening in your case.

What is stopping you from listing against the existing asin when you find the “potential match”?

Also from the link you have given it states

This article applies to selling in: United States

Are you attempting to list on the US website? Would that be the reason for the error?

We also have this problem. Did you figure out what’s going on about this issue?
