Items missing from inbound FBA shipments

We have had multiple instances of items go missing from our shipments.

It used to be 1 or 2 items, recently, an entire shipment is showing as received and closed by FC but QTY is 0 instead of 26.

Tried to open an investigation but it does not seem like they really looked into it.

We have lost over $15,000 in missing items in the last 2-3 months.

We use UPS labels from Amazon, is there a way to open a serious investigation or get reimbursed for there items?

Are the UPS labels insured?

It also looks like BFL2 and SDF8 are the locations where this seems to happen. Does anyone know of a way to avoid shipping items to certain FCs?

Go into your shipments and open claims, provide invoices. Click the action required drop down, and select "research missiing units"

It seems the new workflow is

  1. set up shipment
  2. shipment is delivered
  3. Amazon claims box is empty
  4. Seller opens case
  5. Amazon finds inventory

You have to provide invoice copies when you open a claim. Amazon will not even research them without an invoice.

Any reasonably intelligent person would conclude you didnt ship an empty package to the warehouse.

The information shared by the previous commenter is a solid summary of the reconciliation process. I recommend opening up this page, and following through this guide step-by-step in order to have a successful reconciliation for each of your shipments. I'll give a particular emphasis on the documentation part - those need to be legitimate invoices / BOL. Let me know if you've opened any such investigations for these missing units!
