Urgent Assistance Required to Resolve ISBN Listing Issue on Amazon
Listing Books is a big Challenge, ISBN vs ASIN, Amazon or ISBN agency is wrong?
Dear Amazon Team,
We are facing a significant issue with listing books on Amazon using ISBNs obtained from the official ISBN agency (ISBN.gov.in). When these ISBNs are entered on Amazon, the system incorrectly categorizes them as apparel or single-issue magazines. However, these ISBNs are properly allocated as books, complete with correct author names and details on the ISBN.gov.in website.
We reached out to Amazon Seller Support regarding this issue, but the responses have been unhelpful. The questions we receive are unrelated to resolving the problem and do not address the root cause. Notably, ISBNs from the same agency are working fine for some listings, but a significant number of them are not.
We also contacted the ISBN agency, which confirmed that everything is correct on their end. However, they stated they cannot assist with errors originating from Amazon's system.
This issue requires Amazon's immediate attention. It is impacting not just us but countless publishers and authors, as thousands of books remain unlisted due to this error.
We kindly request Amazon to:
Investigate why valid ISBNs are being miscategorized as apparel or magazines.
Rectify this error to ensure proper categorization and listing of books.
Please refrain from questioning sellers unnecessarily. We have done everything correctly—obtaining the ISBN, printing the book, and verifying the details on ISBN.gov.in. The issue lies within Amazon’s system, and we hope your team can promptly resolve it.
Your assistance in this matter will help thousands of authors and publishers connect with their readers.
Thank you for your understanding and swift action.
