Chargeback after 4 Years 2 months

I just recently got a chargeback with order #112-2201068-1861818. This order was placed on May 30, 2020, more than four years ago. Amazon requires us to provide the date and shipment method, tracking number, name of carrier used for shipping, delivery confirmation and signed proof of delivery, if available.

We shipped this order with a FedEx carrier. However, it was too long ago, so the tracking number is no longer available to track on the FedEx website. So, if available, we cannot provide Amazon's requested information, especially delivery confirmation and signed proof of delivery.

When I tried to search for this order # on my Amazon account, it did not even show up because it was too long ago. Please help. This item cost $539.85.

Contact Fedex, they can provide this information

Considering that banks only allow 120 days to file a chargeback this makes no sense.

I would like Amazon to show any proof where they allowed a chargeback from four years ago on a purchase directly from them.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. This should be an easy win for you, however. Provide all the information that you have (I hope you are using some kind of internal system where you can find records of the transaction). Don't worry about traceability of the tracking number at FedEx. Give them the tracking number, tell them it was FedEx, and that should be sufficient enough. If they come back asking for the track details, explain to them that this is a 4-year old order, FedEx keeps such records only for a year or less, usually, and it's no longer available. Also, remind them that chargeback can't be filed after 120 days (I don't know of any card that allows more then 120 days). In my opinion, the customer bugged his CC a lot and they, finally, caved in and overrode their own system to allow for this chargeback to be filed.

Surely, someplace in the depths of Amazon, there must be one employee who can tell the difference between 2020 and 2024. All you have to do it find that person.

That transaction is far too old for a chargeback - usually they must be filed within 120 days.

More than likely, this chargeback is direct from the CC Company due to the person filing Bankruptcy. This is one of the ways that CC companies try to recoup their loss.

Open a case with Amazon explaining it is against their own polices.

Do you happen to know what the product is? Could it have been recalled and now they're trying to get their money back?
