improvement suggestions for the Amazon platform
Hi everyone
I've got some practical suggestions that hopefully makes Amazon a better platform for sellers.
Do you have others?
NOTE I think we should limit to realistic stuff - e.g. no point saying make seller central responses less generic - they won't do that.
To start with, my ideas are:
- Having an auto removal setting so that any FBA returns are auto removed rather than returned to inventory, even if they are deemed sellable. Fraudulent returns do happen and Amazon rarely detects them (unfortunately it's a cost of business) but it annoys me when a damaged returned product is then recirculated to later buyers.
- Manage Inventory screen should allow for filtering of all in stock items that are not competitive price
- Manage Inventory screen should allow for filtering of all in stock items that are not capturing the buy price
- FBM customers can upload their return tracking number if they are the ones organising the postage, when they pay and organise the return. Once the return tracking shows arrival, seller has [24] hours to settle the return. Currently I
- Responding to A-Z claims should allow for uploading attachments, especially proof of delivery. Currently no attachments are allowed.
- A-Z claims for non delivery always be automatically defended if the proof delivery is actually signed with correct GPS coordinates. This does not apply to items left authority to leave and not signed.
- A-Z claims for non delivery should not be allowed to be lodged by buyers until after the expected delivery date has past, regarding what the actual tracking information shows. For Amazon AU's own sales, that's what Amazon customer services tells buyers - sometimes the tracking shows delivered too early, but is actually delivered a few days later. But for third party sales like us, people can successful do A-Z claims for non delivery even though the expected delivery date hasn't even past.
- FCs should allow Sunday drop offs of FBA stock prior to peak periods.
- The Amazon built in auto repricer should have an option to change the price by whatever is required to capture the buy box. Allows FBM to compete better against FBA.
- There should be an option for when Amazon cancels a disbursement payment, they send you an email. Right now they don't even tell you unless you manually check carefully.
- Account Health Rating is 4 points per 200 orders in the last 180 days. This seems hard for Australian sellers to get to, since Australia is a much smaller market than the USA. It should be 4 points per X orders. and X differs by the marketplaces. Higher in the USA and lower in Australia, to reflect the marketplace size. Otherwise the Account Health Rating level 250 protection seems very hard to get, especially for sellers who sell higher dollar value but lower quantity items in Australia.
- OR alternatively, Account Health Rating protection level should be flexed to reflect the size of the marketplace. i.e. Australian sellers should be maybe 225? We are smaller than the USA.
- OR alternatively, Account Health Rating protection level should be 4 point per A$10k of sales or 200 orders, which ever is better.
- In the Manager Orders screen, all unshipped FBA orders always show as "awaiting payment verification". Orders should be split between that status and "unshipped".
- Somewhere we should be able to see if we have multiple in stock conditions for the same ASIN, eg on the inventory screen.
- There should be a template message to FBM buyers allowing the seller to ask the buyer to double check their address details on the order. If the buyer does not respond then the seller is allowed to cancel for no penalty. Right now, we are forced to fulfill FBM orders which are clearly being delivered to a non deliverable address. A template message helps those sellers who are otherwise blocked from sending proactive messages to buyers.
- A tag can be added to all SKUs by the seller. The tag is only something that the seller can see, and is a field that shows on the inventory screen, and in reports. It allows for efficient filtering or searching without needing the API and a third party tool - e.g. I might want to tag 10 items of interest that I can then filter business reports by to see their traffic.
- The Manage Inventory's current price for the SKUs is always the standard listing price and not the deal price even if the SKU is currently on a deal. This is confusing - SKUs should have a different formatting if there is currently a deal on that SKU, to remind the reader - and provide a link to the active deal.
- The order of the items on the iOS seller app should be allowed to be changed by the user. I don't know why manage inventory is so low in the list, and why quick start guide and selling applications needs to be so high.
- There should be a way for improvement suggestions like this to be submitted! Currently the only way is to log a seller central case and then they treat it like an actual error.
- Manage inventory screen FBA SKUs current qty listed as inbounded into FC should include qty in shipments created but no yet shipped ie "ready to ship".
- Activate all metro Melbourne postcodes instead of just 3000 for Partnered Carrier Program to FCs.
The following are also suggestions I would really also like, but being honest I suspect Amazon won't want to do:
- A-Z claims for non delivery can only be successful IF the courier / postal service has deemed lost. If they do not deem lost, then the A-Z claim is defended. This prevents the ridiculous situation where buyer claims loss, but seller cannot claim transit insurance from the courier.
- Buyers cannot claim A-Z unless they messages the seller first to work it out.
- No fault protection - established seller accounts in good standing should have no fault A-Z claims on FBA orders covered by Amazon up to a certain limit. Say up to 5% of the fees paid to Amazon in last 180 days.
- An optional setting for sellers to block buyers who have previously made an A-Z claim or made a return to that seller (not to any seller, just the specific seller whom they are trying to buy from again even after making a return). Prevents abusive buyers.
- An optional setting for sellers to block buyers who have seller accounts, or buyers who have seller accounts that are selling the same ASINs (i.e. competitors).
- I know Amazon doesn't want us to be able to choose which FC to inbound FBA into, but at least allow us to block up to up to one FC that we know are problematic or very far away. eg BWU2.
- Amazon Australia's buy box algorithm should treat import Amazon Japan, Amazon Germany, Amazon USA etc as FBM. Right now they are treated as FBA so win the buy box easily with a more expensive price, even though their delivery time frames might be much longer compared to a cheaper local FBM. That is a worse outcome for buyers.
- For FBM orders, Amazon should show a warning to the seller if the provided address seems to be not valid - eg the street doesn't exist in the given postcode. It's then up to the seller if they still want to ship. If the seller wants to cancel the order, then that is allowed for no penalty. Right now, we are forced to fulfill FBM orders which are cleared being delivered to a non deliverable address.
- Shipping templates should allow for more detailed zones - to prevent abuse by sellers, they should at a minimum mirror Australia Post zones of rural vs metro.
- If there is no featured offer for an ASIN, and it's not because of competitive price, then the manage inventory screen should indicate the reason.
- FBA warehouse lost items should trigger email the seller, instead of Amazon trying to keep it secret. Or it should auto reimburse.
- Option for ASINs which become search supressed to trigger email to the seller.
