Create a new ASIN to change brand name, received a solution from amazon

I received this answer from seller support but i am not sure if it can be done

"To create a new ASIN you need a new UPC which is associated with your registered brand and you can remap the same SKU with ASIN contacting our FBA team from your seller central to get the stock back on the new ASIN."

Personnally I would not risk that...... danger of stranded or removed around the corner.

Anyway we are told again and again that a listing is not allowed and possible to change brand name. So now they suggest to create a new listing but they don't tell that you will loose reviews and ratings. Anyway I think this suggestion is technically not possible.

And WHAT PLEASE should following mean:

Hello @Seller_yHYxDS1qtHfxI,

Michelle at Amazon here. I understand that you are creating a new listing and that you want to have your old inventory transferred to your new listing. If you create a new listing, you would need a new SKU as well as new UPC. As this is a new ASIN, Amazon will not transfer your old items to the new ASIN and if you try to do this, your inventory can get lost. If your items are different in any way, including by adding a brand to your items, these items would be considered different products and would be a policy violation if you list a different product on the new ASIN.

I hope this information is helpful.

Regards,

Michelle
