Sending Freight to FBA

I wonder is Amazon trying to put us out of business? Amazon is sending our FBA shipments further and further away from our location in NJ. In the past we were sending to fulfillment centers in our region generally withing 75 miles. Two pallets with 500 SKU's would cost us $200 + or -. Now they are asking us to send to N.C. and now FL at a cost of approx. $600 AND on top of that we have to pay a placement fee.

So now compared to before our "Send to Amazon" is costing us $600 -$700 MORE per shipment.

And Amazon tries to coerce us to lower prices. I won't get into that here but trust me it is happening.

Is Amazon too naive to believe we have no choice but to raise FBA prices higher than out merchant fulfilled sku's. Is that WHAT YOU want Amazon?

Or is there a solution to control where we send our FBA product? I doubt it but....

We have this issue too, even with small parcel delivery. What we did to solve it is AWS- which is probably what Amazon wants to push you to do anyway.

AWS you can select the warehouse where you want to ship it to and in our case we have 2 that are local. You will have to check if you have one of the AWS warehouses in your region or not.

The benefits are- No placement fees, auto-replenishment of your FBA inventory, no Overstock/ low stock FBA fees on activated items, and local delivery.

Our average cost to send 8 pallets is about $200-$250 compared to $800 or more (for like 3 pallets worth of goods) to send to Amazon FBA.

Yes, there are storage fees, inbound fees, and outbound fees to Amazon. But so far it's been worth it in saving us money

Hi @Seller_EIksCMoZoSVGP,

Dominic from Amazon here, happy to try to help.

If your shipping plan qualifies, you can use the Partial shipment splits option or the Amazon-optimized shipment splits option. With these options, you pay a reduced fee or no fee for sending your inventory to multiple inbound locations across our network.

To qualify for the Amazon-optimized inbound option with no inbound fee, your shipments must include at least five identical cartons or pallets per item. Each carton or pallet must contain the same quantity per item and the same item mix.

This help page, 2024 FBA inbound placement service fee, has a ton of detail on the fee.

Best,

Dominic
