Lost package.what Amazon says vs. what USPS says
I had a buyer contact me that their package never arrived. Ok... research time! When I look at the tracking number through Amazon, it says my package was picked up and it is "in transit" and there is a delay . I went to USPS' website. and it shows that I made the label... and nothing else. I called my local P.O. and they can't help me as there is nothing there to be able to research. The item was shipped May 22nd.
I am replacing her order of course, but, my question is: WHY does Amazon say that it was picked up by my mail carrier AND that it is in transit with a delay. but, that the P.O. says the tracking number says it is awaiting me to mail it?

DO NOT replace the order. Refund and let the buyer purchase again.
OR -- assuming you purchased shipping on Amazon, instruct the buyer to claim INR (Item not received) and get refunded by Amazon. Then the customer reorders it.
IF you choose to replace the order, the buyer can still claim that they didn't receive it, get a refund, and keep the delivered product.
Yes, you have to be a little cynical here as an Amazon seller.

As far as amazon is concerned, once you enter the tracking number, it is shipped. The post office, they are so incompetent, they can deliver the thing before it ever gets scanned at the dock. Had this happen a number of times. We take our packages to the post office, and they sit there till they get time to scan it. If they scan it. I am trying to figure out how a package marked California is lost in Hawaii!! Now I have to fight with USPS to get our money back.

I second this, from what I've seen reported on the forums.
