New Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against Amazon Alleging They Use a "Biased Algorithm" for Featured Offer
I have seen a lot of input on the Forum seeking to know why the sellers' "featured" offers have been removed. If you will check out the news, you will see that Amazon had a class-action suit filed against it on February 8, 2024. The lawsuit states "Amazon employs a deceptive scheme to keep its profits - and consumer prices - high. It uses a biased algorithm to determine which offers shoppers will see, and therefore which seller they will buy from, when they search for items on Amazon". If you peruse random items for sale on Amazon, I think you will see that, (for now anyway) they have removed the "Featured Offer" from ALL its listings. I am sure their lawyers are reviewing it and perhaps waiting for the outcome of the suit. Just my thought. :)

As a seller I would hate for the feature box to be removed, otherwise it will just become a race to the bottom for pricing and will hurt all of us in the end.

I'm still hoping to understand how Amazon's algo for the buy box *increases* prices. That seems like a weak argument, as everything I see on the platform is designed to drive prices down.

I'm baffled by how Amazon determines which offer gets featured. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it at all. As a buyer, I always look through other offers and almost never buy from the featured seller. I also check other sites for the item. It amazes me that customers would just buy the first offer they see without at least a little comparison shopping. Are most people really that lazy, busy, stupid...?

Still seeing the featured offer on 99% of our listings.
Was there an announcement somewhere that Amazon was removing the 'featured offer'?

great! Love it! Wish we would see more! Especially how Amazon deliberately and intentionally rips sellers off by refunding fraud customers and holds the poor seller responsible!!
Regarding this suit however, it kinda contradicts Amazons joke of fair market pricing! Lol! I can't even list a item at $219.99 when huge competitors of Amazon are selling the item for 249.99 including the manufacturer. Hahaha
Amazon as turned into a crap show. This suit answers why Bozo has sold his shares recently. It's just a horrible company. Start taking your business else where as much as you can guys!

they absolutely do. theres no doubt about it.

I have the opposite problem. Instead of trying to be the "featured" offer, I have to try to lose money when people list products for less than wholesale, then amazon decides anything over $1 or $2 above that is a "high price" error.
