Seller Account Deactivated due to having an old account we no longer have access to but Amazon say we are linked
An ex employee set up a Seller Account on our behalf but when he left the business over 2 years ago we were unable to access it. We set up a new account in a different name but same bank account, and 2 months ago Amazon deactivated our new account. They said that both accounts shared common information but would not confirm what this information was. So we changed the bank details on our new account and sent them proof of our ex employee resigning as requested.
Now they still will not reinstate our account even though we have no access to the old account and refuse to tell us what else we need to do except repeating that there is shared information which is preventing reactivation.
We are at a complete impasse, any suggestions would be welcomed

Unfortunately, you need access to the old account.

Unfortunately this is a tricky one.
ususally you cannot set up 2 accounts especially with duplicate information but this is possible especially with historic accounts before the security was more stringent.
In times gone by you could have 2 accounts with different details but in the backend there will always be a link. This means that it would be possible to run 2 accounts provided they were not deactivated or suspended for some reason.
Some firms can run 2 accounts provided they have different account details and there is a legitimate reason and not selling the same things in the same category.
The problem arises when one of these accounts is put into a review. Whatever happens on one account will result in action being taken on what it considers to be a strongly linked or duplicate account.
The other account could still have a link in many ways which are as follows.
Bank account details, residency details, business address details past and present, ownership details including whatever is registered with Companies house if you are a limited company.
It maybe not so much that the person is nowhere to be seen on your existing account but could be that you or someone connected with your account is present on the other account. Without access to this account or being in touch with this person it is going to be very difficult to establish this.

There is one book company that has three separate accounts. I assume this is if one falls foul of Amazon then the others are safe. Over a period of time they have changed the odd name but it's always been three.
They do the same on Ebay and when I ordered three books from each they charged me and only supplied one copy. Had to claim the others back.
How do Amazon allow this. When you look at the business details it's all the same Ltd company name but with three different entities. It's must be Awesome for them to get away with it. hint hint.
