Vendor Central - price setting

Hi everybody,

I have a question concerning setting prices of our products we sell to Amazon via our Vendor Central account.
I work for a toy distributor in Belgium and Amazon is buying a quiet high amount of products we distribute in France to sell on Amazon.

One of our suppliers demands from us to ask Amazon to raise the prices of some of our products we sell to Amazon via our Vendor Central account. Therefore, we need to aks Amazon higher prices. The problem is that Amazon always declines our request to raise our prices.

Some questions:

  • How can we convince Amazon to accept our demand to raise the prices of some brands we offer via Vendor Central?
  • Is there any way we can contact somebody regarding this issue? Does anybody know where to find a personal account manager for Vendor Central?

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
Martijn

sorry - but your post made me smile. You have zero chance of “forcing” Amazon to raise their price to buyers- why would they? I just put on another post about Amazon halving the price of a big brand’s products once the manufacturer started supplying them direct - firm had to withdraw from supplying as no one could compete and goods were diminished in perception of value and quality.

You could of course raise your selling price to Amazon?

Amazon do not accept any manipulation or influence of pricing via Vendor Central, this is one of it’s biggest weaknesses and one of the reasons we stopped being an Amazon Vendor you have no control or influence over the price your product is sold at even if Amazon choose to sell at a loss where bots are matching other sellers on other marketplaces, your only option is to discuss the issue with the Vendor category manager they may revise it it’s picking up on an incorrect listing. But typically they do not they just politely request a rebate to cover losses incurred.

If you have a Vendor Express account you will not have any account manager or specific category manager, if you have a Vendor Central account you will have a few points of contact given from the outset of the vendor agreement

It’s not that we want to force Amazon to raise their prices to their customers on Amazon, we would like to raise our selling price to Amazon. But they still have to accept our proposal, and so far, Amazon always declines our demand to raise our prices.

Are there any arguments we can use to convince Amazon to accept our offer of higher prices?

Thanks!

In my experience with Amazon Vendor there is no way you will be able to discuss this with them, the only way you can control this is to put your price up, if Amazon dont accept this you may have to consider not supplying that product line?

Unless you a Gold Seller to Amazon they won’t even entertain the idea of a price rise. When you get to this point they are still reluctant, but you then have the leverage of not supplying the goods to them.

We used to have a Vendor Central account and always found that Amazon would be accept cost price reductions in a second but getting any rises through was next to impossible. So we shut down the Vendor Central account and stopped supplying them.

Good luck with it and stand firm!

Has anyone found a way to increase their cost price on vendor central? My costs have gone up so it is not worth selling at the old price. Amazon are free not to buy it if they don’t want it but I have to be able to price it at a profitable figure other wise why bother selling. There is no way to put a profitable price in the system. Price increases are just automatically rejected and it happens so fast (if you look at history) it must be done by a computer automatically.

I only want to increase the prices to the point where it is profitable to sell. Otherwise I will just have to abandon vendor central.

I have read some have stoped supplying Amazon via the VC platform. We have a contract that runs until Dec 19. Is there a way out or do we have to stick with it until Dec 19
I would be grateful for any help or advise

Why don’t you just put your products as out of stock? It’s what we do if we don’t want to sell an item to vendor, instantaneous.
