Seller I reported for Brand infringement now threatening me

Hello, Looking for some advice, I recently reported someone for a brand infringement and they are now threatening me, saying that they will destroy my account with policy violations
Here is an extract from their lovely email -

" I will destroy your seller account by making False policy violations. I can do this as I am expert in destroying sellers accounts as you have harmed me very badly.

Mark this as my warning or request whatever you want.

If I start giving you warning it will come from any brand that you never know.

Retract this asap.

Waiting for retraction else you will wait for account deactivation.

Thanks"

At least they said thanks!

Should I just retract the infringement? Will they be able to destroy my account if I don’t?

Urgent help required as they’ve given me 24 hours to do it…

@Julia_Amazon

Always great to see an amazon response to threads. However as an on looker and I am sure other people may be thinking the same.

Obviously @Lacestar main concern would be not the actual individual, but more on protecting their account. As if this person follows through on their statement how will lacestar be protected against potential account suspension etc? As we all know how brutal the automated processes can be and the potential of lost revenues when such things happen.

I am only asking this as I believe we, as seller (well me at least) would like to understand how we will be treated and looked after in such events.

The question I would ask would is fall under the malicious communication? or a threat? which is actually in breach of the terms of use.

Unfortunately, I don´t have answers for those questions, but you can always contact the Seller Support and address your concerns.

Respectfully,
Julia.

Technically all accounts should be protected from false policy violations, you are not protected if the policy violations are true.

The seller is saying they will make false accusations but for what? It is a threat and hopefully will be cut off at the pass and what would it achieve if they decided to carry out their threat?

The threat of action is a bigger tool than carrying out the actual threat. You decide to go back and cave in, they have you over a barrel and what is to stop them from carrying out their actions anyway?

Hi

Have you read paragraph 6.2 in Amazon Services Europe Business Solutions Agreement?

Personally, I’d be more interested in finding out how another seller actually knows it was you that made the report?. Don’t know the full situation but I’m guessing if someone who was listing an item and then had it removed or had their account suspended, etc, would receive the standard contact from Amazon, that could have simply been Amazon having came across the issue themselves or someone else reporting it. If Amazon have sent them a notice claiming you, as the brand owner have reported them, then that’s a bit direct tbh. Surely their contact should be something like “We have noticed” rather that “The brand owner has reported you”?!.

With the amount of knock-offs and fake reviews splattered all over Amazon, surely offering brand protection is negated when they then send notices telling them that the “brand owner has reported you”. If they are the type of person who is involved in this kind of activity, it’s likely not too difficult to trash your reviews, or make false allegations against your seller account, just seems to be a breeding ground on Amazon now for all manner…

i would call amazon and speak to someone, find out where to forward the threats for them to deal with

If this is from outside Amazon it sounds like a police matter, hopefully the sender is in the UK though or it will be difficult.
