Need help disputing $1500 in incorrect shipping label adjustments

Hello,

This month I have been charged around $2000 for shipping adjustments that are incorrect. Most if not all are from a singular package size that I use (15x15x8.8in) and most of the adjustments are from FedEx OneRate. The audited dimensions are always 10x15x15, just barely putting me over the 2200 cubic inch threshold, and this is what can turn a $700 order into a $1000 loss. I have shipped this exact package size hundreds of times through amazon and other marketplaces, and have never experienced charges like this until about two weeks ago. I have information to disprove these bogus adjustments, and I'll attach photos of that here, as well as a sheet of the biggest adjustments that I need to have reversed. I have been charged hundreds of times for smaller amounts, and I know that's become a big issue for sellers lately. I'll just chalk that up to the cost of business. Needless to say I do not use Amazon buy shipping anymore. The attached photos are the exact package is question. You will see that the package is not, in fact, 15x15x10, and that all of these adjustments are incorrect. I ask that you (mods) please submit a request on my behalf to get these charged reversed. We all know that seller support cannot help, and I can't go to fedex, since amazon is the buyer in this instance. I will also list the orders below, as well as the spreadsheet, to make it even easier for you to submit this. I ask you to consider the position that this $2000 loss has put me and my business in, since I am not a very large seller here. I have no recourse but to ask for your help. See below for the information. TIA

You'll see that across the forums, many people are dealing with this. I don't mean to speculate, but I myself have never, ever, received anything like this across any other platform, and with such little support, something does not seem right about this. I appreciate all of your help.

Need help regarding insane shipping label adjustments

Hello @Seller_NzMO5fCTmwqHv. I again reviewed the photos you provided in this thread and in the case you shared in the above thread. The photos show that the FedEx carrier-audited dimensions are accurate, and that the package are above the strict 2200-cubic-inch limit for their One Rate shipping service.

Please note that if a measurement is over a whole inch, it rounds up to the next inch.

I understand this is is a difficult situation, but I do not have a path to dispute the carrier-audited dimensions and adjustments.

Our team recommends that sellers be especially careful about measurements of packages close to the 2200 cubic-inch limit, as FedEx is strict about that threshold.

I hate to disagree with a fellow seller, but the first photos in your thread the box dimensions appear to be OVER the 15 inches (just barely) and 9 inches on your other side so rounding UP 16x16x9=2304 cubic inches. If you are going to continue to use these boxes you need to use a vice (or another persons arms) to squeeze the box together before you tape it to get it UNDER the 15 (even just barely). I would also suggest much more tape to keep the box secure and under the dimensions all the way to your customer since you don't know at what point they measure. Plus I have seen people at my local post office measure a box by wrapping a tape measure around it. You are measuring straight across the box from edge to edge, but if the box is bowing outwards where the flaps meet then the dimensions would be larger.

Our FedEx rep said our standard Box of 11x 10 x 6 was over the cubic dimension to qualify for the FedEx One Rate, so your box is definitely over the dimensions, I would recommend talking to FedEx directly to see what size box qualifies for One Rate.

While this may be a good rule of thumb to help prevent FedEx mis-measurements and box leaning from causing problems, technically it is supposed to round to the nearest inch, either down or up, so only when you get to the half inch mark is it supposed to round up to the next inch. Since boxes can lean, though, and FedEx lasers can mis-measure packages, it is probably best to just assume the next inch when going over an inch at all, especially if doing so would knock you out of FedEx One Rate such as in this case. When I use FedEx One Rate, I enter them in as the actual dimensions (only rounding up if it is at or close to that half inch mark), but sometimes I get bumped up to the next tier when FedEx mis-measures. I keep this in mind when it is close, and sometimes will go with another service if they are close in cost since I know FedEx will likely do this even though they really shouldn't. I am especially wary if it would knock me out of One Rate.

That is odd that they are rounding up the 9 inch dimension. That one is over a half inch away from the mark where they are supposed to round it up. I wonder if the box is leaning, or not square/plumb in some way? You may wish to consider linking your own FedEx account with FedEx One Rate enabled instead of using Amazon's FedEx account. When I have mis-measurements, I contact FedEx directly and have them adjusted that way. If you are having loads of issues, you may have difficulties getting them to adjust that many, though, even with your own account, so you'll need to see if you can figure out any reason that they may be measuring that 9 inch as a 10 inch such as box leaning, bulging, out of square, etc.

Another benefit of using your own FedEx account is that you can then participate in FedEx Rewards where you get a reward if you can make the goal. This month my goals are to ship 1 FedEx Ground package for a $5 gift card and ship 49 FedEx Express packages (of which FedEx One Rate qualifies) for a $150 gift card. I can easily claim both with my regular shipping through FedEx, so it's a nice perk. The rewards vary each month, though, last month it was only a $50 gift card for 60 FedEx Express shipments, so this month is a lot better.

Your pictures clearly show that they are slightly over 15". Not sure why you are so focused on the 9" measurement. 16"x16"x9" 2304
