Cannot create variations

For the past 3 weeks or so I have been trying to create more variations for an existing parent listing, I've tried using the variation wizard, and about 4 other methods that was suggested to me, none of them worked. At most all it did was create a new parent listing, not a child listing variation.

I have contacted Amazon Seller Support probably over 10 times and the issue still needs to be resolved. They suggested that using the flat feed file upload will combine the new parent listing (that SHOULD'VE become child listings) however I've uploaded it about 15 times and can't seem to resolve the error.

"Relationship from parent SKU _________ to child SKU ________ was refused because the SKU _________ would enter a circular relationship when traversing package_contains hierarchy relationships from the root.

We have detected a potential error with package_contains identifier attribute. If you see other errors or warnings related to package_contains identifier, please correct and resubmit. Otherwise your request may still be processing and this error will resolve itself."

Lastly, it has been suggested to me to actually delete all of the parent listings and start fresh and redo it from the beginning. That worries me for obvious reasons, they said if I used the same information (they didn't specify which information, I assumed GTIN number) that the "new" parent listing will still have all of the reviews I have gotten so far.

Can anyone assist with either the error or letting me know if just deleting my parent listings and redoing them will resolve it; also how would I have to do it so that the new listing still has all the reviews etc.?

Hello @Seller_BlqaTtQqMIqEh- thanks for surfacing this situation here on forums! Danny from Amazon here with hopefully some helpful resources for you.

Based on the information included in your post, it sounds like there might be issues present in the file uploaded to create these variations. It may be helpful to read through our guidance overviewing variation relationships to determine what your variation theme should be. This FAQ and the video on that page also has a lot of great information. This Seller University course will also walk you through the creation process with an inventory file.

Additionally, if you re-list products with the same ASIN and SKU, your reviews will remain attached.

If you'd like to share your case ID discussing this situation with support, I'd be happy to take a look at the specifics from my end to better advise!

Thanks,

Danny
