Editing restricted ASIN. Please help

Hi Everyone,

One of my products has been removed due to violation of Restricted Products policy. Completely my fault - I was copy-pasting new bullet points I received from copywriter and I didn’t notice one word, which made product non-compliant.

I was advised by Peformance Team to change the description for ASIN to be reinstated. Here the issue starts:

  • changes made via ‘Inventory > Edit’ are not saved in the catalogue
  • product edit tool in ‘Help > Fix a product page’ refuses to change anything on removed ASIN
  • uploading change with product feed is not saved
  • Seller Support cannot edit the description because ASIN is restricted
  • they advised using ‘Add Products via Upload’ with ‘PartialUpdate’ option which, surprise, doesn’t save the change in the catalogue.

So I can have restriction lifted when I’ll update product description, but I cannot update product description because there is restriction on ASIN. Catch 22.

Is there any way to change restricted ASIN details? We are brand owners and only sellers, if it makes any difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to get Amazon support to remove the restriction.

You can only do that if you can get them to understand the product is not restricted. If the product is restricted but you’re just hiding a word the triggers the restriction you probably won’t get them to remove the restriction.

Hello Peter_Pan,

I understand that one of your listings was taken down for violating Restricted Product Policy.

Usually, whenever a listing is removed for Restricted Products policy violation, to comply with the guidelines, you are required to either delete the listing completely by clicking on ‘Close listing’ button against the particular ASIN or submit documents by clicking on ‘Provide evidence ASIN is compliant’ hyperlink under ‘Close listing’ button against the particular ASIN on Account Health page.

If you have already created a case with concerned team by selecting ‘Provide evidence ASIN is compliant’ hyperlink, please ask the team about the steps they want you to follow to get the ASIN re-instated.

Kindly check if the concerned team has requested you to provide any documents or asked you to perform any action from your end. If you have followed all the steps that was mentioned by concerned team and still facing an issue in getting the product description updated, please take a screengrab of the error message and share it with the concerned team on the case and they should be able to help you.

If you require any further assistance, please let us know, we are here to help you.

Regards,

Sheldon

Hi Peter_Pan,
Have you solved your problem? I also encountered the same restricted ASIN editing problem recently.
No matter what method I tried and how many “24 hours” I waited for, changes just cannot be saved in the catalogue.
Could you please tell me how you solved it in the end?
Many thanks.

I’m having the same problem, I made a silly mistake on the original listing and I’m now going round and round in circles with support trying to get them to let me edit it to make it compliant as it should have been, but they keep saying no it’s restricted. They have 400 units which are now stranded inventory. I think I’m going to have to give up, get them to send the inventory back and then start again and hope that the same barcode wouldn’t be a problem?

Just an update, I got there eventually by repeatedly asking to edit the listing. They did let me in the end and I removed the offending word/claim, they then approved it and reinstated the FBA stock. I think I was probably talking to a bot for the first several attempts, I kept rewording my request and finally got through to a real person whereas before I had been going around in circles.
Frustratingly I have noticed some other products obviously breaking the same rule I did but they are still for sale!
