Branding requirements

is it required for a brand to be trademark registered ? only asking because an amazon support member told be this wasn’t a requirement before another staff member told me the opposite, i have emailed amazon for clarification however its been almost a week and they don’t seem to want to give me an answer.

As far as branding is concerned if i trademark my brand under “AlphaCanineGear” and put the registered logo on my packaging as stickers (shown below) will this finally be enough to allow me to register my brand with Amazon ?

the logo on the product itself is shortened to “Alpha” to fit on the items, the full logo can be printed off and stuck onto the packaging if that’s what it takes.

Why would they accept your application for Brand registry, if you don’t have a brand?
Just because you put a label on your product, doesn’t make it a brand.
I believe that you can apply once it’s pending.

The SS member was probably talking about brand approval which you can apply for without a trademark however, stickers are not acceptable, the brand name needs to be permanently fixed / printed on either the product itself or the packaging

You’d also need to check it’s not already trademarked

Also Amazon, and anyone else, won’t accept shortened versions of a trademark or brand unless the shortened version is also a registered trademark.

I can be fairly certain that Alpha will already be a registered trademark for someone else and shouldn’t be attached to your product unless you have personally checked there is no conflict.

We went through brand registry and got approved - here are our learnings:

1 - You need an active approved trademark from a recognised body - we got our brand approved through the UK IPO office - that took 5 months and cost £200 - we researched the brand conflicts ourselves so we were pretty sure nobody would object.

2 - The branding name or logo you register with Amazon must match EXACTLY what your registered brand trademark is.

3 - The branding must be permanently fixed onto either the product or packaging so stickers will likely be disapproved - our brand for example is stitched in

Hope this helps!
