New to FBA: Account Deactived

Hi, i’m so so stumped & require help!

I created my FBA account months ago and it was quickly deactivated, I set it up as a sole trader as im totally new and not registered in UK for a business. I used my personal banking details aswel for deposit method.

I have emailed amazon and sent an appeal months ago explaining that im new and to please explain what it is exactly that has deactiavted account so that i know what to do - no response what so ever.

The lack of communication from amazon is shocking, feels like im held back even before ive had the chance to run with no real chance and can become very mentally draining.

can someone explain what im might neeed to do or if any other businesses simular to mine account setup (sole trader in UK) help me with understanding how the account should be set up and if my account is still salvageable after the months of it being deactivated.

A sole trader IS a business so register with HMRC and get a UTR number (Unique Tax Reference). Amazon will require a copy of your letter from HMRC confirming this.

You need a bank account that matches EXACTLY the name on your UTR and the personal details you put in Amazon

Amazon do require sellers to have a basic idea of a business versus an individual registration (selling off second hand stuff - not new)

Are you based in UK ?
If you have registered with HMRC as a sole-trader then you must be registered as a business, or do you actually mean you opened an Individual Seller Account ? - that is NOT the same as sole-trader…

If you have not registered with HMRC as self-employed sole-trader then you need to do that first, and wait for them to send a letter with your UTR, as you will need to upload that to Amazon to have a BUSINESS seller account.

Using your personal bank details for business is not really wise as when you come to do accounts you will have to extrapolate your business transactions from your personal ones.

So I realised why my FBA account what deactivated from the very start (registered back in August 2021 and got deactived after a couple of days).

I had applied for the wrong entity / or decided to change later on without updating anything on my FBA ACCOUNT or not knowing which entity was appropriate.

Initially I wanted to do individual but then decided to set up a Limited company in the UK and also hadn’t attached my business bank account on the disbursements tab and instead had my personal banking.

I was wondering because I have a LIMITED COMPANY under hmrc companies house what entity do I fall into?

I’ve now appealed the case a few days ago (deactived since end of August 2021)and I explained my error and attached a plan of action as well as all my companies legal documents and proof of business bank account from my bank.

Will amazon be able to reinstate my account at all?? I’m very impatient.

I really hope that I won’t need to set up a new seller account as amazon doesn’t like multiple accounts and causes a threat again if found out.

If I do need to set up a seperate account, am I able to use my limited Company and business bank account again or will I need to set up an entirely new business again with HMRC.

Thanks

Yes I had seen that response and did follow it through however when clicking Business Infomation the “submit for verification” button is greyed out/unclickable.

and as of the “expand” under business and contact info button it just shows options to edit my name, address, driving license but nothing in regards to legal entity

So I took on your advice @The_Little_Shop to contact SS regarding making the entity page available for me so that I can change the entity from individual to limited company to follow through my POA/Appeal to have this replied to with the usual automated message sent 100 times before:

We have closed this case because Amazon has deactivated your account. Refer to your Account Health Dashboard to learn more about the status of your account.

View your Account Health Dashboard at https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk/performance/dashboard?ref=ah_em_sps or select Account Health on the home screen of the Amazon Seller app on your iOS or Android device.

I’ve appealed repeatedly since august 2021 with no responses direct to my appeal - im being ghosted entirely. :woman_facepalming:

I have done a lot of research with this and it’s advised because I’m not crossing any existing registered info (business) or inventory over; setting up an account shouldn’t be an issue: below are very important details of my account to support this:

  • ACCOUNT IS DORMANT - never listed or sold any products/ no value to account so no areas of cross-selling or duplicate listing will occur at all

  • THIS ACCOUNT IS REGISTERED UNDER INDIVIDUAL SELLER - I recently incorporated a LTD with HMRC just 9 days ago and obtained all doc/banking / this has NOT been implemented on this account and has NO linkage. I wish to use my newly incorporated LTD in the new account

  • This is INDIVIDUAL and new ACCOUNT will be registered as BUSINESS/ LIMITED COMPANY - totally new entity/ business with no links.

  • If new account is made as NEW BUSINESS / new credential such as telephone and email will be made. NO cross over.

What have I done to attempt to rectify this account you may ask?

I have submitted multiple communications and just going round in circles:

  • 3 well drafted appeals showing understanding, owenership, root cause and plan of action submitted over many months - ghosted response

  • SS just keep throwing back “we have closed this case” bla bla - no effort to even help or review the case.

Before I entirely give up & pack up and take my business elsewhere I want to atleast have a SHOT at AMZ. Amazon is ghosting me entirely with this account and as a genuine and legitimate business and hitting this brick wall for many months its not fun for anyone. :-1::-1:

One of the videos I watched amongst many supporting this:

@The_Little_Shop The fact is I don’t want to deal with this dead account anymore as it has no value to it anyways - no loss is to be made as nothing was ever sold or even listed or even associated with the LTD due to mentioned before THIS IS INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNT - so two entirely different entities/ businesses/ with no linkage or even inventory- whatever they want to call it.

So in terms of appeals, I’ve done plenty and will not send any more as I have done ENOUGH to try to amend this however they have not allowed me “switch” the entity on the seller central page as well as getting backhanded auto-messages shows no real investigation to all my hours worth or appeals and cases that I’ve written and sent.

Also to add, the internet and YouTube have made alot more sense and provided HELP unlike SS or Amazon so i really appreciate the help put there orelse i think we would all be pulling our teeth out.

Just to be 100% sure - how and where can I find out what TYPE of account my current account is. Just need that written proof that its an individual accoutn which it is and should be.

If you go to settings - account info do you see the transfer account option ?

@NEil am I right in thinking op can change legal entity here ? Or is that only for active accounts ?
