Amazon France business order

We had a French buyer place several large orders with us through their Amazon business account. As these were were large B2B orders they were not classed as IOSS, so taxes and customs fees would be due on the orders.

I contacted the customer regarding this. I informed them that due to the size of the orders and that they were placed through a business account there will be additional tax and customs fees applicable upon delivery of these orders. If they didn't want to pay theses additional taxes and fees I gave them the chance to cancel the orders. They said they were happy for us to dispatch the orders.

Of course now the orders have reached France they are refusing to pay the taxes or take delivery of the orders.

Does anyone else have experience of anything like this?

I'm guessing we don't have a leg to stand on here, the customer will put an A to Z in and Amazon will pay out and this is going to end up being a very expensive mistake.

Were they over the 150 euro threshold to be classed as IOSS? If so the buyer would have been charged vat and you would have to pay the import fees and taxes.
