Client waited for refund before picking up package

so had a client at an APO. Shipped the package on the 19th of June. and i would say he contacted me the first time around July 12th. He stated the package hadn't moved since June 27th. Checked tracking and package stated that it was still in transit. I told him i was away on vacation and couldn't fully access my account to process a refund or anything. He was very receptive and was willing to wait until the 23rd when i was to come back. On the 23rd. I refunded them and asked them to send me their address so i could file a lost package claim with the USPS.

He immediately contacted amazon help and they sent me a message about a package not received and that i should refund. I found this very odd Anyone here had a similar issue? I sent him print screens of the actual refund. He never directly responded to me. I ended up finding his address through i report i had downloaded and went to open a lost package claim. Low and behold. Package was delivered. He was just waiting all this time, package is not show as delivered until picked up at the PO BOX, for me to refund him and then go pick up the package. So they got the money back and the items. Has anyone ever been in a situation that's similar? any possible solutions? maybe someone from amazon can help?

In the future, buy your shipping through Amazon. If a customer complains of non-delivery, have them file an A-Z with Amazon. Do NOT issue the refund yourself; Amazon will cover you, and in the case of scammers, will catch on to them and stop them.
