Own brand items with big brand products

Hi, I’ve seen a lot of listings now that are big name brands but are being sold with maybe a spoon or notebook of the sellers brand name. The listing is then being advertised as the brand of the spoon or notebook and not the big brand.

Can anyone tell me how this is done please? I’m guessing that the seller has a brand registered on Amazon, but do they need big brands permission?

If brand permission is needed, what certification are Amazon looking for? If anyone has any guidance on this procedure any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Kev.

Of course they should do - I would image in 99% of cases - they don’t get it.

This is simply a way of circumventing the amazon systems to get a listing to themselves.

These sellers will eventually find either their listings removed by amazon or, an ip complaint from the real brand

Hmmmmm, if you do spot a seller who is doing this would you mind sending me a Direct Message?
In regards to brand permissions, I will add a help page that you may find useful, Selling Applications FAQs.

As well as them having an exclusive package, it could also be all the Brand Registry issues that are in an absolute mess.

As soon as a Seller informs Amazon SS that there is an issue with a listing. They just say item is Brand Registered and they cannot alter the listing, even when the listing is wrong.

The Brand owner usually says they do not even deal with Amazon, so they have no idea how to change it. They also usually cannot be bothered.

Then that item cannot be sold on Amazon. I have lost count with the amount of times I’ve had to stop selling items due to the listing not being correct. I think these Sellers you mentuion have got around that by say selling a Spoon for £100 which is their brand and giving a known brand food mixer away for free in the package - not saying that is the best, but as Amazon have caused the whole issue by not correcting the wrong listings, I can see why they are trying to resolve it another way.

Considering how many generic items I’ve bought on Amazon without a name on the item, or just a sticky label, especially from Chinese Sellers, that is a bigger problem. All listed many times, so confusing, with the only difference being the so-called Brand in the listing, and the only difference is the EAN sticky label. Which really all so they are the only one on the listing.

Amazon don’t fix anything is the issue! - so Buyers then go to EBay and I can’t blame them.

I also do not get paid to work for Amazon, so they can locate all these issues themselves, after all their website
