Parent ASIN created by another seller

Hello together,

my variations are each listed individually, but they must be represented as parent and child listings.

The variation family is owned and was created by my wife. A shipping label has already been created for a couple of variants and sent to the supplier. Due to her health problems, I had to take over the business. I have created new account and added the existing ASINS.

Now the question is how best to proceed. Should we create a new parent ASIN? Will it then be possible to add the existing variants with the same ASIN and will the shipping label not be changed?

Or is there another option?

By the way, support is getting worse and worse and just close the chat if they don't know the answer.

Hi there @Seller_Y4DfSgjJTiRVc,

I'm sorry you have had difficulties with your business and I'm glad you are able to help your wife. Regarding your listings, products should be listed with the "Child ASIN" the Parent ASIN is only used internally to associate the listings into a variation. You can create a new variation and it should not impact your products shipping labels (as they should be labeled with their own specific ASINs, not the parent ASIN).

One thing to note is that in general we don't recommend creating a new account selling the same products. Creating duplicate accounts can result in enforcement actions by Seller Performance as you can see in the policy below:

Multiple selling accounts on Amazon

You may only maintain one Seller Central account for each region in which you sell unless you have a legitimate business need to open a second account and all of your accounts are in good standing. If any of your accounts are not in good standing, we may deactivate all of your selling accounts until all accounts are in good standing.

Examples of a legitimate business justification include:

  • You own multiple brands and maintain separate businesses for each
  • You manufacture products for two distinct and separate companies
  • You are recruited for an Amazon program that requires separate accounts

I'm sorry for any difficulties this creates. I would recommend you ensure you have access to the original account and use that account and close the duplicate unless you are using multiple accounts in a way complaint with the policy. Thank you for your understanding.
