Brand SKU vs FNSKU (rookie seller)

Hello everyone,

A rookie here so please bare with me :)

I just submitted my application for brand approval (not registry) as I was promoted to do so while listing my first product. My supplier is preparing my products to be shipped to Amazon warehouses in the US once brand is approved. I bought 3 SKUs from Gs1 as my product has 3 sizes. Do I still need to get an FNSKU and cover my own UPC? I am a bit confused with the virtual inventory thing: if I use my own SKU, does that mean Amazon will select any product that is similar to mine and closer to customer to fulfill the order and I lose the sale even if the buyer ordered my product and my brand? And if I use FNSKU Amazon will only dispatch my product even if there are similar ones closer to customer? I am listing my product under new and not in Amazon catalog so I believe it's a new ASIN right?

Sorry too many questions as it's my first time and I don't want my products to reach Amazon warehouse and be rejected.

Thank you!
