legally required to be VAT registered in the United Kingdom (UK) based on Seller Central settings
I am a new FBA seller.
I tried to add my first new product and draft the shipping plan. After that, I received a email from Amazon and was told: "You may be legally required to be VAT registered in the United Kingdom (UK) based on Seller Central settings."
However, I have no revenue now and the estimated turnover is under the £90,000. However, my goods are imported from China.
Do I need to registered VAT?

They are only saying "may". However if you are using a virtual address then that may be what Amazon are referring to. Or you've said your goods are shipping from China.

If you do not actually LIVE in UK, and wish to store your goods here in UK for FBA then yes you do need to be VAT registered here. If you do live in UK, and as above reply, if you are using a virtual address then that can cause problems, as many non-UK residents register their business here by using a virtual address, which Amazon seem to assume as you not living here.
