We have two ASINs that are listed under the browse node Industrial & janitorial. However, we noticed that our referral fee cateogry for these ASINs are labeled Tools and Home Improvement and not Business, Industrial, and Scientific Supplies.
Seller support is not giving me a straight answer as to why this is the case, just that its what our ASIN falls into for referral fee category and that it doesn't necessarily have to line up with our browse node. While I can understand that sometimes, I am questioning how our Referral Fee category isn't lining up with our browse node as they both should be under the Industrial category. To make matters worse, using the revenue calculator, I can confirm that some of our competitors are being labeled into the correct referral fee category of Business, Industrial and Scientific Supplies.
The issue here is that the referral fee for Tools and Home Improvement is 15% while the Business, Industrial, and Scientific Supplies is 12%. On a $100 and $140 product, that adds up to a significant amount over the months/years as we scale and sell these products.
I feel like amazon just throws us into the Tools and Home Improvement category because its a higher percentage of our sale for them to grab.
Has anyone else dealt with an issue like this? If so, how did you go about changing it?
