Item returned 24 hours ago, AtoZ ?!

I had an item returned back to me yesterday, I have just gone to do the refund and the buyer has opened an AtoZ?

If I refund now, I will get a defect yes?

So, what to do?

yes you will, the damage us fine. Just wait for the A to Z to be processed. The customer can wait for their money.

don’t refund now. Just appeal the a-z, the grounds for appeal against any ODR would be you have 48 hours to refund as per Amazon return policy.

Been in the same position, answer the A-Z and state your case.

Even though, when it happened to us, we had already the item the A-Z team replied to the customer asking for further details. None were forth coming so they shut the case and asked them to return the item to us?? Bit strange as we had just received it...

We then refunded. All that happened is the customer delayed the refund they were about to receive anyway.

If I was returning an item and I had the tracking saying it was delivered I would assume it would be at least 24 hrs before notifying of the refund. Unfortunately members of the public assume someone is waiting for the return, once they have it they race to a computer to refund in an instance. Part of the nuances of selling on Amazon.
