Children’s Product Certificate – Compliance Request Unjustified

Hello,

I launched my product approximately 4 days ago. After just 2 days of sales, I received a message from Amazon stating that I needed to submit a Children’s Product Certificate (CPC). I was given only 2 days to respond, which is already quite unreasonable.

The main issue here is that the product I’m selling is not intended for children. Just because a child might come into contact with it in real life doesn’t make it a children’s product. This item is clearly designed for adults.

I contacted Amazon and explained this. They responded saying I should either remove child-related keywords from the listing or submit the required compliance documents.

So, I removed the keywords that were potentially linked to children. I double-checked the listing, cleaned up everything, and wrote back informing them that the issue was resolved. No one responded.

I opened a new case and asked them to reinstate the listing. Their response was: "Your request is still not approved because the issue remains and the product has characteristics of Collectable Toy for children. We request you take the following action to fulfill the compliance requirements for this product. Your product falls under the Collectable Toy category. You must submit the compliance documents listed on our help page to offer this product on Amazon."

So essentially, what they’re saying is this:

If I wanted to sell a gasoline canister meant for adults who drive vehicles, but there’s a chance a child might touch it, I would still need to submit a CPC?

That’s completely absurd.

Now my inventory is marked “Unfulfillable”, and I’m sure Amazon will soon destroy my entire stock, simply because I can’t produce a certificate in 2 days even though this product is absolutely not a children’s item.

Honestly, Amazon has completely failed here. The policy enforcement is unreasonable and inconsistent.

Would be nice if someone would look into this case:

And now my whole inventory is marked as "Defective" because my listing got deactivated? What? Any mods, maybe do something?

Sorry you are going through this! Sadly, Amazon AI has gone insane on saying everything needs a children's compliance cert, even on items that are not intended for children. We sell items intended for adults, not kids, but support still keeps shutting down items. Some of which we have been selling for 10+ years.

The interesting part is the Consumer Product Safety Commission specifically starts out with, "Children’s products, a consumer product designed or intended primarily for children 12 years of age or younger,..." Not one of our products is "intended primarily for children 12 years or younger", but the AI bots still keep turning products off. I appeal all of them. The bots will listen to some of the appeals and then ignore others.

Hi there @Seller_5xG0GbJvs9AU0,

I've reviewed your thread and it looks like at some point you included terms that suggested this product could be for children but you have now removed it. If you have completed your review you should be able to submit an appeal via the Manage your Compliance Page. Please appeal again indicating that you have removed the terms that identified this as a children's product and that this is not a children's product. If you are rejected provide the Case ID here and I will investigate further. Thank you your understanding.

If you state that your product is intended for people over aged 12 on your product page, you just need to appeal for it and specify that your product is not suitable for children. Additionally, it does not require any files.

Hi @Glenn_Amazon,

I have resolved my Compliance Issue- my certificates were reviewed, and my listing is now active again. However, as I mentioned earlier, my main problem is with the "Defective" inventory status.

All of my inventory was automatically marked as "Defective" when the listing was set to Inactive. Now, the automated removal date is approaching, and I do not want to lose my stock. These units are completely fine, and I would like to have them returned to "Available" status.

Please escalate this case or at least advise me on what steps I need to take or who I should contact. It doesn’t seem fair that after I’ve done everything, submitted the certificates and complied with all requirements, my inventory is now being removed.

If the units were moved to "Defective" status because I couldn’t provide certificates earlier, then it would only be fair to move them back to "Available" now that the certificates have been submitted and the listing is active again.

Thank you for your help.

UPDATE: CaseID: 17971599941 - just talked to Seller Support and they said they sent a request to warehouse to move my units back to available. Hopefully it does help, but im not sure.

Hi there @Seller_5xG0GbJvs9AU0,

Thank you so much for your patience. I've heard back from our Compliance Team and your ASIN has completed review and is now reinstated. The ASIN now is eligible for sale and appears to be fully reinstated. If you are still having issues with your inventory I recommend working with Seller Support, but as the FBA offer appears to be restored, it looks like this is resolved. If you have any difficulties regarding Seller Support and your inventory for this ASIN please let me know here with the case ID. Thank you for your understanding.
