Customer trying to scam us for a $1500 refund when no return sent

Our customer purchased a wire measuring set, which we sent. UPS tracking showed it was delivered on April 17th. The customer said they did not receive it and filed a case. Case denied. Then the next day they requested a return (even though they said they never got it) because the item was damaged. We ok'd the return, and they printed the return label on May 7th. Tracking for the return label shows UPS has still not received the item. Customer is sending message after message asking me for his refund. He even accused us of getting the package back and keeping it without giving him a refund. I seemed shady from the beginning. Tracking still (May 15) shows they do not have the package, so I am not refunding until I receive the package back. I think he wants to keep the item, which was $1500 and also get a refund. He has threatened to leave a bad review because of my poor customer service. Then threatened to leave just one star because the product was damaged. I'm frustrated because he keeps messaging.

In the message area you can report buyer, when you open that up you will see your choices, BUYER is trying to scam me. You should do that now. Amazon does READ these messages

mark as no response needed.

he may eventually file a chargeback. you'll probably win the first round. however if he files again, you may not get a notification to fight, and therefore lose it, so be vigiliant, and check your chargebacks daily.

I lose a chargeback to person like this, I won the first two and the azs as his story changed about 6 times, but I lost a final chargeback, which is ridiculous but credit card companies don't care.

Similar issues have happened to us multiple times. Do a partial refund of like $5 while you work on getting this resolved. That way you won't lose the whole $1500 should they file an A-Z claim.

While this is somewhat complicated, IF you used Amazon Buy Shipping and shipped On-Time, then I would direct the Buyer to file an A-Z Claim. Not only will they LOSE the Claim, but Amazon will then protect you from retaliatory negative Feedback.

Based on the fact that the Buyer used Amazon messaging to contradict themselves multiple times, rather than lose $1500.00, I would direct them to file a Claim even if I did not ship within Amazon policy protections. I believe the Buyer has sufficiently perjured themselves in writing to defend your position.

Also, report the Buyer using the "Report Abuse" tab at the bottom of the message.

Do NOT give ANY refund unless you receive the item back. If you receive the same item back in "Materially different condition than originally shipped" you may withhold 50% of the item cost.

Good Luck!

i have dealt with this successfully! All you have to do is ,if you purchased the original shipping on the platform abs you have the successful delivery proof, tell the customer to file an A TO Z CLAIM for item not received (even thoughit WAS RECEIVED and they lying and just want free stuff) .

Once the system sees that you did purchase on this platform, they look at the buyer messages to see what pictures/attachments you've sent, such as proof of delivery screenshots. After all this, they give the refund to the customer OUT OF AMAZONS money and you keep the money from the order.

If they are manipulating the system, which it sounds like they are trying, if they open a return request, that's fine, leave it open forever until you see they finally shipped it back and still do not give the refund until you receive and inspect it. Then, if something is wrong, take pictures and open a SAFE T claim. If they never ship back, then YOU never give the refund.

If the customer is threatening you with bad reviews, other petty threats to get their way, IGNORE THEM. on buyer messages, click the button that says "no response needed ".

Amazon is teaching customers how to scam us. Some customers are smart but as long as someone tells you "I never got it" = it a lie, THEY HAVE IT& JUST WANT FREE STUFF ". IF U HAVE THE SUCCESSFULLY DELIVERED PROOF= SEND THEM TO GO FILE AN A TO Z CLAIM
