What is the point of "promise extensions"?
As my title states, Im looking for information that would be beneficial to sellers that explains the point of promise extensions.
Example: I recently got a 3 day promise extension on an order, that order was delivered within that extension timeline, however the order was STILL counted in my late orders.
The OTDR page says that promise extensions are shown to the customer, but not to us. If the customer is being told a delivery date of 4/4/25, and we are told 4/1/25 for a deliver by date, and then the order is delivered on 4/3/25, wouldn't the customer consider that an ON TIME delivery? So if the CUSTOMER is being told it's ON TIME, why are sellers being punished for a LATE delivery? Also, if the customer is being told 4/4/25, WHY are we being told it needs to deliver sooner? This whole promise extension thing doesn't seem to make sense overall. I'm still being penalized for a late delivery. I'm just having a hard time understanding the point of promise extensions if you still plan to penalize the seller when something is delivered within that window. Shouldn't you NOT be penalized but more of a warning? Like hey.. heads up. this package would be considered late in the future without this extension we gave you. 99 times out of 100 I don't get extensions on anything... but the one time I did, and delivered within that extension, im still penalized. Make it make sense?!
