UPS delivery service invoice bogus?

I rarely use UPS. in 2023 I may have had 4 or 5 orders that were shipped UPS. I typically print all shipping labels thru amazon shipping (if there are issues, then I will print the shipping label thru third party software (pirateship, etc). BUT, I just got a UPS INVOICE (in the mail) for $100 for a package UPS supposedly shipped on my behalf. it was address to amazonmarketplace. and then had my LLC name and address below that. it's for NEXT DAY AIR RESIDENTAL LETTER (except I never ship next day air) which is very expensive. and most the charge is from a supposed AUDIT. they appear to have AUDITED THE SIZE OF THE PACKAGE and then tacked on $75 from the audit. by the way, I have never got a UPS invoice in my life. I probably have an account with them and fed ex also (even though I never use them unless it is thru the online marketplace).

anyway, it appears to be bogus. the reason I say that is I search my orders for the tracking# and nothing shows up. I search my completed orders for the zip code of this order. nothing comes up. and I go to the UPS website to view tracking information and I should see PICTURE PROOF OF DELIVERY RIGHT? I think I read a few months ago that UPS now has picture proof of delivery on every package. HOWEVER, no picture of delivery is provided. instead as proof of delivery it says MET CUSTOMER.

has anyone else got a Strange invoices from UPS recently? what did you do?

the other odd thing is the invoice has some information missing. the name of the person the package was shipped to (recipient) is missing. and then my address shown (sender) doesn't have the house/building number (only the street name).

the few UPS packaged I ship, I drop off at a UPS store for shipment. sometimes I will get a receipt. other times I will simply hand it to them (if they are busy). this was a package shipped nov 27.

You can either call UPS and they will fix it for you or ignore it. Nothing will come of it.

This has certainly been a bit of an issue. I got about 4 or 5 bogus UPS invoices tied to my Amazon assigned UPS account showing "AMAZON MARKETPLACE" on the bill. I even had a return package that someone had shipped on my Amazon assigned UPS account but wasn't able to be delivered and so it got returned, but it got returned to me even though I had nothing to do with the shipment. It's fraud of some sort. I've just called UPS each time and had them remove the invoice from my account.

thanks for the replies. I drop these packages off at a local UPS store. sometimes I get a receipt (if there not busy), sometimes I don't. I'm thinking maybe they had something to do with this. not sure if I trust them. I think I will choose a different UPS store from now on.

I am following up on your reports of receiving a direct invoice from UPS Amazon in the mail.

We have had similar reports of this in the past, so I am seeking out more details.

@Seller_DdmPiA1p1S2Wu: it sounds like you were able to work with UPS directly to correct those invoices. Is that correct?

@Seller_Zismx4GAprKkX: do you have any updates on your invoices? Are they still outstanding?

this was not an invoice from amazon but from UPS but the invoice did include amazonmarketplace on the sender name (me) of the invoice and also the address that the invoice was mailed to did also include amazonmarketplace as part of the address. I did do a LIVE CHAT at UPS.COM yesterday. they didn't say much about the charges that I explained they were bogus. but they said they would REMOVE THE CHARGES and forward my invoice to their fraud team who would investigate further. they did also tell me to be sure and let amazon seller support know. I did also open a case with amazon over a 5 days ago regarding this (before I had did the live chat with UPS) but have not heard back from them. UPS did say this USPS account (link to my amazon seller account and amazon seller account email address) was created early NOV 2023 (about 3 weeks before the fraud charges occured). I am still not sure how whomever created my UPS account was able to link it to amazonmarketplace (as it includes amazon marketplace right on the invoice).

@Seller_Zismx4GAprKkX @KJ_Amazon Wanted to post a reply to this. We just got an invoice today too from UPS for a shipment in December for $48. We don't ship UPS, and checked all our prior information and could not find this supposed shipment. The shipment also appears to have been originated from across the country, and not from where we are located.

I called UPS, and briefly started explaining, and the rep immediately said it was a fraudulent shipment, and she reversed the invoice. They escalated it to a fraud team and said someone will email soon with more information.

I asked about the account number on the invoice, but they wouldn't say if it was related to us or Amazon, only that the fraud team will be able to give more information later.

Is there a way to see if Amazon generated a random UPS account number for us? Not sure if this is related to these random invoices other sellers are receiving.

I believe that UPS was hacked. Change your password on UPS.com or remove your account.
