I am also curious to this situation and keen to learn what you have gleamed about the process. From what I understand the following is true or required.

  • No US based business entity is required to sell via US FBA
  • Listings can be created from your UK seller account if you link it to the US seller account
  • You will need to have goods checked into the USA before being forwarded to the US FBA warehouse. However I think smaller shipments this is not needed and if the value is less than $800
  • No tax is required to be paid in the USA because of the double tax treaty between the UK & USA
  • Sales tax per state is managed for you by Amazon.com. How this is incorporated into billing or referral charges I am unsure.

My last point is the only issue I am unsure on. So far it seems doable, almost to easy!

You need to send DDP and the courier company must have brokers to clear for you. Best to open an export and import account with one of the major companies. DHL, Fedex, TNT, UPs.
Apply online for an account, and someone will get back to you. It takes a while for your account to be set up, but very easy to manage once it’s up and running.
