Inventory marked as defective - Amazon Lying
I sent in approx 30 of a Nintendo Switch game that was well packed, sealed in original packaging and to get the game the customer must download from the code in the box.
All were marked as sellable.
A customer then purchased and returned on the proviso that 'description different to website' when it was absolutley the same which was the first fault, return should not have been allowed.
It then returned and has been marked as defective as Amazon have 'quality checked it', there is no form of appeal and I have to absorb the fees. How can an item be sellable when they choose to send it out for sale, and then upon return, its defective, and not, either Amazon or the Customers fault?
Its a code in an unopened box.
I've been told theres no way to be reimbursed or the decision be changed. Is there any way I can take this higher?

It isn't just Amazon returns policy but UK consumer law for distance selling that we accept returns if the claim is within a specified period of time, regardless of the reason given. Also if the buyer couldn't use it, for some xyz reason, it may not be seen in the outer packaging for the fulfillment teams to not have sent it out.
As for Amazon marking it as defective, is the most convenient and that is what they will do. It will never change. Because:
This would mean they don't have to return some units, they keep it to themselves and sell it themselves.
This would mean that they don't have to reimburse you.
This would also means that they don't have to work on returned units or deal with sellers. Just mark it defective and pass it on to their reselling team.
Also because they couldn't care less about your business.
Fruitless, generally speaking, taking this higher. They create such policies, why would they say any different. But this hasn't stopped me for fighting my wee corner for every penny they owe me.

Hi @Seller_Z1rg5E3tflgU8,
I've checked internally and can see your product is now Active with items showing as sellable.
Could you verify this is showing the same on your end?
Thanks! Ezra
