URGENT Help Needed with FBA Storage Fees and Inventory Issues
TL;DR: I’ve been struggling with Amazon FBA storage fees and inventory issues since February 2024, leading to unexpected charges that are bankrupting my business. Despite contacting Amazon support 10-15 times, my situation hasn’t been resolved. My inventory’s auto-removal dates keep changing, and my remaining units mysteriously jumped from 148 to 440. I’m now facing long-term storage and overage fees that have pushed my bank account into the negative. Desperately need help to get these charges refunded before my business goes under.
Hi everyone,
I’m currently facing a major issue with my Amazon FBA account, and it’s led to multiple charges that are pushing my business towards bankruptcy. I’ve contacted Amazon support about 10-15 times, but I haven’t received any meaningful help. Here’s a breakdown of what’s been happening:
This all started around February 2024. I had inventory on the way when I was hit with an IP complaint. Another seller had a patent on a similar product, so Amazon told me I couldn’t sell it unless I appealed. I decided to do the right thing and not sell the product. My plan was to donate or recycle the items.
A few days later, I received a notice from Amazon that I was over my storage limits and would be charged at the end of the month if I didn’t comply. That was understandable, so I contacted Amazon support about 6-8 times to make sure I wouldn’t be charged the $6,000 mentioned in the email as long as I got rid of the inventory by the end of May. They assured me that I wouldn’t be charged as long as the items were removed.
I immediately requested to have all 1,200 units donated or recycled. I was aware that I’d have to pay a recycling fee, which I was fine with because it was less than the cost of destruction. Over time, I saw my inventory decreasing, but something seemed off. I noticed that about 148 units were scheduled for auto removal, which I couldn’t control. For example, the auto-removal date kept changing—one day it would say 03/09/24, but when that date arrived, it would push to 03/15/24, and then again to a later date. This kept happening over and over.
I contacted support again and was told that 32 of those 148 units were at a facility that doesn’t do recycling, so they moved them to another facility for recycling. But the auto-removal dates kept changing, and I was repeatedly told to “keep waiting.” I started to worry about being charged long-term storage and overage fees.
Fast forward to today, August 29th. A few days ago, I noticed that my 148 units suddenly jumped to around 440 units, and I’m losing my mind. I’m now being charged weekly for these fees. Every time I reach out to Amazon, I’m told to wait or that my issue is being looked into, but nothing gets resolved. My bank account is now in the negative, and my business is on the verge of bankruptcy because Amazon isn’t hearing me out.
For example, just a few days ago, I spent over an hour explaining the entire situation in a support chat. I was told I’d be transferred to another team and that I’d receive an email where I could provide more context, but I never got that email. When I contacted support again today, I had to describe my issue all over again, only to be transferred again, with the new associate asking me to repeat everything.
I’m beyond distressed and desperate for help. I just want to be refunded for these excess charges before my business goes under and my bank closes my account. If anyone has advice or can help escalate this issue, I would be incredibly grateful.
Thank you.
