Surprised by the level of entitlement by sellers on here

Everyday I comb through various discussions on here and I'm taken aback by the level of entitlement by sellers on here. Amazon may be one of the most valuable companies in the world but that doesn't mean entry onto their platform assures your success. For the very fact that there really is zero barrier to entry on here, you should realize how much competition you are going to have. The scammers on youtube ads and instragram promising you "6 figure income side hustle!" "Work 5 hours a week and make 10k" are people that failed on amazon and are making more money promsing a fake dream to future generations of entrepreneurs and 'want'repreneurs.

To be successful on here requires a lot of patience, investment, VERY hard work and alot of persistence.

Completely agree. We all have the opportunity to have our products in front of millions of customers because of the company Amazon. That's why you don't bite the hand that feeds you

I blame the wage "earner" background of many of these sellers who lacking real world experience as a owner/partner in small business have expectations that will never be met.

Many of these wage earners expect to be rewarded just for showing up when they do not have anything they would rather be doing. This results in many of my local businesses relying on boomers as their most reliable employees while all the new hires take off for games, concerts the beach etc.!

Agreed. I've been selling on Amazon for over 2 years now. Find it way superior to other marketplaces, and make $4k+ profit per month now. But it took a huge amount of hours each week to get it to that point, especially when scaling and building the correct infrastructure. Even now, with a heavily automated workflow, I still probably spend 10-15 hours a week managing. Which isn't much for the rewards reaped each month, but its definitely not for the faint of heart. 2 years of a massive learning curve and a whole lot of trial and error. Definitely been worth it in the long run, but most certainly not just a "side hustle".

Well yes, especially the new ones are fantastically entitled. But this usually goes away in the first months when most don't make it.

And yes, even with "patience, investment, VERY hard work, and much persistence" you still may not be successful. It depends on a lot of factors

That's because most discussions are started by new sellers. Most older ones just want some level of fairness, we expect nothing at all when it comes to sales...the sales are 100% our responsibility.

But you're okay with the constant abuse Amazon imposes upon us day after day? The price-fixing? The copy-cat products? The bots that won't stop taking down legitimate listings? The FBA issues ("oops", lost your inventory")? The rampant customer fraud encouraged by the very platform's policies? The illegitimate customer feedback Amazon refuses to do anything about? "Seller support" ('nuff said)?

Give me a break.

And for what it's worth, I've sold on here for 14 YEARS. No, I'm not entitled. I DO expect to be treated humanely and within the confines of Federal and State laws.

Entitlement? Yeah...I guess we should be entitled. To get what we pay for. I run my business like a true corporation. A+ content, pay for campaigns. But Amazon destroyed my summer business when they lost 102 pieces of my inventory. That case has been open a month now and I STILL cannot get a straight answer. We went from building our business from 2-3 sales per day, up to 10+ sales per day. And then wham! My inventory went into reserved status and then into research status. All that momentum, all the hours of tweaking our branded product page,..POOF. gone. And I can't get those sales back. My product is a summer product. Now I am SOL and have to sit on inventory until next spring. And guess what. I guarantee when 180 days hit, they will "magically" find my inventory and nail me with overage fees. Oh, one last thing. They have been selling my product under THEIR name. How can they do that? I have the inventory reports. No damage to all units. 0.0% across the board in all the categories they measure us against when it comes to shipments and inventories. Only 2 returns. Yet they constantly have anywhere from 4-11 "used but in new condition" for sale under the Amazon flag. Smells a little hokey doesn't it?

So back to your premise that sellers feel "entitled" You dang right we do. Entitled to the partnership, rules and regulations and Amazon's responsibilities that are defined quite well when you approach this like a professional business. Branding, trademarks, manufacturers letter of permission to sell. On and on.

Good day
