UPS Lost a Return and it was costly
Does anyone have any tips on trying to recover some of the money lost on a return? Long story short is we sent a customer a $1,400.00 item and we insured it with signature conformation etc. The customer wanted to return the item and Amazon sent him a return label. The item was shipped out promptly by the customer, but UPS lost the package. We have reached out to Amazon and UPS, the only one that did anything was UPS they sent us a check for $110.00, insurance up to $100 and the shipping cost. The problem we have with this is we declared the value on the outbound shipping, but Amazon did not for the return and UPS would only pay $100. Is there any tips to recover more for this error or? Amazon Safe-T claims have been denied 3 times.

Hello @Seller_S9i9bRwBtBcUP- and thank you for highlighting this experience here on the seller forums, I am sorry to hear about this lost return.
It is true that our SAFE-T Claim process does not cover items lost by a carrier during return transit, which you can confirm on the relevant help page. In such scenarios, you can file a claim with the carrier who lost the shipment towards any reimbursement, which it sounds like is underway. If you haven't yet, please see the steps on this page for further context on claim filing with UPS, which includes a specific number for Amazon sellers to use.
I hope this information helps, and that my commenting drives some further traction to this post so other sellers who have faced similar situations can weigh in with their guidance.
Best,
Danny
