"ASIN has already been claimed by another brand representative or reseller of the brand" even though we are the brand owners

Has anyone faced this issue?

We are the only seller of our product, we are the registered brand owners and we only have two people working on our seller account.

We are trying to update the title of the product and are being repeatedly told that the "ASIN has already been claimed by another representative of the brand"

Has anyone else managed to resolve this issue? We are going round in circles with Amazon and cannot find any prompts to allow this change on our seller account or resolve this in any other way.

Hi,

After years of running into the same issue—and getting nowhere with Amazon support—I think I’ve finally figured out the cause.

There’s an important distinction between ‘Rights Owner’ and ‘Brand Owner’ roles. You won’t actually see a ‘Brand Owner’ role in Brand Registry, but there is an ‘Administrator’ role.

I just discovered that my ‘Brand Owner’ account had both the ‘Administrator’ and ‘Rights Owner’ roles assigned. The ‘Rights Owner’ role does not have permission to edit listings.

The fix:

Check your account roles in Brand Registry. If you see that you have both ‘Administrator’ and ‘Rights Owner’, remove the ‘Rights Owner’ role, leaving only ‘Administrator’.

Also, make sure that only one account in Brand Registry has the ‘Administrator’ role.

Let me know if this works for you! :)
