Competitive External Price Amazon

Hi,

I can see that other sellers are also having issues with the "Competitive External Price." Can anyone advise on how we can avoid this problem?

Amazon still doesn’t seem to understand that companies/sellers have different margins across marketplaces or other channels, and prices can’t always be the same due to different criteria. It’s not fair, because when Amazon flags the competitive price on certain ASINs, we’re forced to match it in order to keep the Buy Box — even when we offer Prime shipping.

Also, we can’t even increase the price by £0.01 because we immediately losing the Buy Box again. We opened some cases and explain the situation but it seems nothing change and hard to find people to understand the issue

I hope to receive some tips on how we can manage this and how we can ask Amazon to remove the "Competitive External Price."

Many Thanks

If you are the only seller you can try to raise your prices on other market places and your own website.

If on other channels your price excludes postage then change your price so it includes postage. When Amazon does its comparisons it doesn't realise you may be adding postage on top on other channels.

If other sellers sell your products on the like of eBay or their own website there is nothing you can do but wait until Amazon remove the competitive pricing. This might be removed in a few days or a few months.

Apart from that I have no other advise. I have struggled with this for a few years now.

It is worst if you have stock in FBA as you have to sell it more expensive to make money. However Amazon still want you sell it at a competitive price even though it will be received the next day.

This is one of the main challenges selling on Amazon. We check all our prices several times a day as the Competitive Price can change anytime.

Good luck with this, i have some toy cars for sale and Amazon keep taking my buy box away as they want me to match the price of The Range however they will not take into consideration the price The Range charges for postage which actually makes me £1 cheaper but Amazon don't see it that way

We are experiencing some issues with competitive external pricing. I'm fully aware that Amazon are in no way transparent about any of this. They don't tell us where they are getting these reference prices from, they don't tell us how often these prices are checked (which in itself seems dodgy and is possibly in breach of trading laws, if they are going to do this and essentially force sellers to sell at a particular price then surely they should be transparent about where they are referencing any particular price from).

We have one particular product that has been zapped by competitive external price and lost the buy box. Not many other companies sell it so we think we know where they have found this reference price.

Subsequently the company that was selling this product cheaply in a flash sale, has now increased their price and our Amazon listing should in theory be the cheapest on the market.

However it's still showing the low competitive price 3 days later

I know this is a long shot, but my question to other sellers is does anyone have any idea how often Amazon bots are scanning for these prices? If a competitive external price goes up how long does it usually take for this to be reflected on Amazon?
