Account deactivated due to tracking issues
I have had a very lengthy , at times incoherent, e mail from Amazon saying my account is now deactivated due to lack of tracking though my account is described as 'healthy'. and my ratings very high.I sell secondhand books using local post offices to dispatch where to have the items tracked would give me a loss and ,because of increased postage, I do sometimes make losses. I have tried to obtain meaningful help from Amazon but in vain. There seemed to be some issue with my credit card which I have now put right. I don't understand how FBA would work with books which is probably me being a bit thick but am quite desperate to get back selling again. Any clarification welcomed, please. Thanks so much.

when marking your items as shipped, what were you selecting as your shipping carrier and shipping class?

Hi The_Loft_Library
It al depends how you're marking your books as sent -If you've been sticking on stamps and posting in a post box you need to stop and go to a post office instead if you can
YOU DO NOT NEED TO SEND ANYTHING SIGNED_FOR OR TRACKED
If you send via a post office you should be getting a sticky label attached to your parcel and a Proof of Posting which has the Tracking Code on.
Yu need to mark against the order Carrier: Royal Mail & Delivery Service Royal Mail 2nd Class and that tracking number be input with zero's but without spaces or dashes) - and if the postie scans on delivery you will get a VALID against your Valid Tracking Rate.
If the postie doesn't scan on delivery, but the code is correctly entered Amazon will validate this behind the scenes but not admit to this!
Alternatively consider sending using Amazon Buy Shipping where you pay Amazon for the label (usually less than over the counter), attach it to the parcel and send at the post office (they do not take an additional charge) and give you a Proof of Posting for the Tracking Number which cannot be entered into the Amazon Tracking box, but then doesn't need to be.
These packages are exempt for VTR purposes and if you do this for all your dspatches your VTR will eventually reach N/A or Not Applicable
Hope this helps

Some good advice there. As Brian says, you do NOT need to send tracked, that is not what VTR is about.
I too am a used bookseller, and my VTR has been perfect for years now (since they introduced it.)
My advice would be to use Amazon's Buy Shipping, then ALL your shipments are validated, and you will have a perfect VTR. Also for sending small parcel size books Buy Shipping is 50p cheaper per item than over the counter at the PO, so a no-brainer not to use it - those saved 50ps all add quickly. You can choose whichever shipping method you want, so if you do need to send a more expensive book signed for it is still cheaper than at the PO.
If you use Buy Shipping you do not need to enter anything, as Amazon confirm shipping automatically and enter the code from the label. You will need scales and a tape measure, but small price to pay for not getting your account deactivated !
You may need to write an appeal to get your account reactivated, but if you say you will use Buy Shipping they should reinstate you.
