A-Z Claim Refund after Customs Requested More Duties

Hi all,

I have had an issue with a Product going from the UK to Ireland. We added all the IOSS Numbers and Order Numbers to the Courier and Customs requested a further £18 in taxes. I emailed the Courier to explain this had been paid and again showed them all the information from Amazon and (Proof added for buyer) Customs said, the VAT & Taxes Collected by Amazon is not relevant to this Parcel and the extra duties must be paid for the item to be delivered.

I told this to the buyer and he said he had paid it all. Anyway, I contacted Amazon for help and they never responded. The Tracking has since updated to Refused by Buyer and Amazon have refunded the buyer and also held a A-Z Claim against me! I have appealed but I am not confident, this is really unfair on me as this is not my fault, and despite asking Amazon for help they never got back to me? Anyone else had this issue before?

It will be duties, not taxes. Just because the customer has paid taxes through amazon, some things are still subject to duties. This is all worked out based on the HS Code and COO.

All Amazon will say is that you should have sent the item DDP as it's in the Amazon Policy that you must send the item so that the customer has nothing extra to pay. Sending a consignment DDP (Deliver Duty Paid) means that whatever extra payments are needed will be charged to your account rather than to the customer.

This is how you must send when exporting on Amazon.
