Where are so many pending orders that exceed 21 days?

According to Amazon’s policy, orders will be automatically canceled if they remain pending for more than 21 days. However, we have noticed that there are 42 orders within our account that are still in pending status and have yet to be canceled, some dating back as far as July 23rd. Could these pending orders potentially tie up our inventory and lead to warehousing costs? Is this a bug on Amazon's system? Can Amazon address and rectify this technical issue? We don't want to have to go to seller support for help as soon as we have an order that is over 21 days.

Hi @Seller_NAntHqYheFGxp,

According to the "Pending Orders" help page (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/help/hub/reference/G40571):

  • While it states that "order detail verification processes can potentially extend order processing times for as long as 21 days," there's no explicit mention that orders are automatically canceled after this period.
  • You cannot cancel these orders yourself - the 'Cancel order' button only becomes available once the payment method has been verified.
  • Most importantly for your situation, these pending orders do tie up your inventory. The help page confirms that "The quantity available for the listing is subtracted from your quantity in Manage Inventory."

You've already opened a case and shared the ID here, which is the right approach. I hope you can get this resolved soon with Seller Support or assistance from the moderators.

Kind regards, Michael

Hello! @Seller_NAntHqYheFGxp

This is Roberto. Thank you for using the forums, I have confirmed that our Seller Support team took the necessary actions to escalate this issue and the impacted orders were cancelled.

While no specific details were shared around why the orders were stuck in pending beyond the 21 days, if this occurs again, our Seller Support team is the right path to report these type of issues.
