Why is Amazon Aelling My Product

Why is Amazon selling my product without my permission?

3 of our top listings now show:

Sold by: Amazon.com

Fulfilled by: Amazon.com

They are also winning the buy box while not having the best deal.

We never gave Amazon permission to do this, how is this possible?

Hi @Seller_etvzI0DQMGpDg

My name is Sandy from the Community Manager team.

“Sold by Amazon” means Amazon bought the stock from the brand or manufacturer and sells it directly to customers. There is a Vendor Central site for this, which is an invitation-only platform for manufacturers and distributors who are looking to sell their products to Amazon as a wholesale supplier.

“Shipped by Amazon” means the brand or manufacturer stocks their products in an Amazon fulfillment center and has Amazon ship it to customers.

For more information, please check the Shipping Options video on Seller University.

I'm not sure how they would be able to sell "your" product without your permission. If you are the brand owner they would have had to buy the products from you at wholesale price in order to turn around and sell them as the seller ("sold and shipped by Amazon") to their own customers. Did they buy a chunk of products from you that you sent them? Not like labeled with your FNSKU seller barcode for Fulfillment by Amazon, but just like a bulk of product?

If so, you gave your permission when you sold the products to Amazon.

If not, maybe you're not the brand owner and Amazon bought a bulk of products from the brand owner to resell as "sold and shipped by Amazon" to their customers. They would have bought the products from wherever you buy the same products from.

If not either of those, get yourself a lawyer and sue the sh*t out of them because Amazon just stole your product and they have deep pockets.

But I doubt this is the case, I think you either granted permission by selling them your product for resale, or it's not truly your product because they were able to get it somewhere else, presumably legally from the same brand owner you are sourcing the products from. Unless they are a proprietary blend that you manufacture and package in-house, like in your own facility, then they did steal your product.

Because they can and this is America. ANY PERSON can SELL ANY ITEM the LAWFULLY PURCHASED without PERMISSION OF THE RIGHT's OWNER.

Why do BRANDS have an issue understand the very simple sentence.

USA Baby. Anyone can sell anything they get their hands on. Unless of course Amazon decides to gate your products.

What has most likely happened is that one of your inbound shipments was received incorrectly, Amazon 'lost' the inventory and reimbursed you for it, Amazon then 'found' the inventory and rather than reverse the reimbursement and move the inventory to your account they opted to sell it themselves.

Another option is returned goods being sold by Amazon if they were graded high enough.

Another option is that you sell at a discount to XYZ Brand, and they are selling to Amazon who then are selling on Amazon.

All the options are scummy, we see similar things on many of our listings despite never selling to Amazon directly.

this is the most likely.

if it was a customer return that you got a reimbursement for, that was graded it will say used-like new or some variation of that

Most of the times, it is the lost inventory for which you haven't claimed reimbursement. Then Amazon uses it as their own inventory and sell to customers and earns a lot of profit.

Reconcile your inentory & claim any pending reimbursements for lost/damaged inventory. You can also ask for help.

They can do this because it is THEIR website. Your products have to be so unique and hard to duplicate so that they can't be copied without putting in the effort to design something different and creative. So that Amazon won't say "Oh, that's selling great, let's get that and add it to Amazon's warehouse.

Because they can...

YOU took the risk and did the market Research and found the product to be successful

They used the INFORM ACT and their other policies to get the names of your suppliers

Now they are done with you. Pack it in and leave or get another product line.
