Coupon error? Understand Why!

As an Amazon third-party seller, managing product coupons can be a powerful tool to drive sales and engage customers. However, navigating the various validation rules and potential errors can be a challenge. In this post, we'll explore some common coupon errors and provide guidance on how to address them effectively.

Approximately six hours before your coupon start time, Amazon's system validates your coupon to ensure it offers a good value to customers. These validation rules are continuously enforced as long as your coupon is active. If one or more of the products in your coupon don't pass these rules, the coupon offer may be disabled on that product or products, while the coupon remains active on the rest of the eligible products.

Here are some of the common errors you might encounter and what you can do to resolve them:

Inventory Error: If you don't have enough inventory to accommodate the customer demand that your coupon might generate, the coupon offer will be disabled on the affected product(s). To fix this, simply send in more inventory and recheck all the product attributes, then recreate the coupon.

Star Rating Error: Coupons require a minimum star rating of 2.5 for products with one to four reviews and 3.0 for products with five or more reviews. If a product doesn't meet this condition, you can either run the coupon with the rest of the eligible products or recreate the coupon without the excluded product(s).

Potentially Embarrassing, Adult, or Refurbished Error: Products that are identified as adult, offensive, embarrassing, or in used/refurbished condition are not eligible for coupons. Ensure your products don't fall into these categories, and either run the coupon with the eligible products or recreate the coupon without the excluded items.

Selling Price Error: Coupons require the current price plus the shipping price to be higher than the minimum seller price for each respective Amazon store. Adjust your pricing to meet this requirement, and the coupon offer will be automatically reactivated within 24 hours.

Sale Price Discount Error: Coupons have specific requirements for the discount percentage and the relationship between the promotion price, "Was" price, and recent lowest price. Review the details in the provided information and adjust your discount accordingly.

By understanding these common coupon errors and following the recommended steps, you can proactively manage your coupons and ensure a seamless experience for your customers. Remember, maintaining a strong product portfolio and adhering to Amazon's policies is key to your long-term success as a third-party seller.

Thank you for clarifying several aspects of coupon usage. However, I still have uncertainties about the issue described as:

"Error:

Insufficient Sales History - ASINs do not have sufficient sales history."

Given that coupons are intended to facilitate increased sales, I am seeking an explanation for the penalization of a seller and a new product in the market for "Insufficient Sales History."

Oh @Danny_Amazon the one we're all waiting on is a fix for "Insufficient Sales History - ASINs do not have sufficient sales history" which is an absolute crock, as proven many times in this thread with many examples and tests provided and still have been left waiting for an answer/solution from @priscilla_amazon for almost 5 months now. On the rare occasion any of us can get a coupon running it's usually on a piece that is a brand new listing, or has never sold, or only ever sold 1-2-3pcs... Which obviously invalidates the whole "Insufficient Sales History" thing.

As I write this I cannot find a single customized product listing running with coupons. To test this I used a very generic search term like "jewelry", "tumblers", "stickers", "dog collar" and click the filter for "Customizable" and scroll the first 100 listings.

You're telling me not a single custom product seller has "Sufficient Sales History"??
