Returned item - Missing parts

Approximately five months ago, I sold an Hue strip through Amazon. To my surprise, I recently received a return request from the buyer, who claims that the item is no longer working. Amazon approved the return, and I received the item back, only to find that crucial components, such as the AC adapter, were missing from the return package.

As per the reimbursement policy, I promptly reached out to Amazon's customer service, requesting reimbursement for the missing components. However, my efforts have been met with frustration, as I have not yet received a favorable response or resolution to the issue. I am being told (on repeat), as per the policy, I am not entitled to a reimbursement. I find myself in a predicament where a valuable item has been returned incomplete. It can't be returned to the supplier as don't have the compete set.

Any tips/suggestions on how to best approach this?

Thanks :)

Was this refunded by yourselves, or did it get a refund at first scan, if refund at first scan did you file a safe-T claim for it ?

A lot of customers is doing this , they choose what they need and sent back to the seller the product , i dont know how we can mannage this , i had this problem for couples of time and is frustrated when you sell a product with £150-200 and after 2-3 days the customer applying for a refund and return ! But all the time i try to treat all situations with pattience !

Its happening to me same like this ...my 50percent parts of my product are like, cables, filters are missing in returned items.

i think so whatever parts customers need...they are keeping and rest of returning..got refunded.

i believe its amozon unfair policy towards sellers at least customers return complete set of product.surely customer can return the product and should be refunded if they return whole item NOT MISSING PARTS..In this case should be partially refund.Thank You

Had a similar issue a few weeks ago. Customer was refunded by Amazon on the first scan. A few days later we received the item back. The customer had stuck the shipping label on the product, with no packaging, and returned it also with parts missing. We opened a safe T claim and got £4.16 refunded on a £50 product. We appealed but got told that's all you are getting. We are going to quit Amazon soon, as other leading platforms like ebay etc support us sellers.

Wouldnt light bulbs be considered "consumable items" therefore not eligble for return.

Ok I know the Hue will last for 10,000+ hours - but it is still a 'light-bulb'
