Trading Standards have been informed

Unfortunately I'm having trading standards look into my account.

I was charged £209.46 in the night by Amazon for fees. I have only had the account less than 3 months and have accepted that the times when I have received no pay out was because what was sold covered advertising costs account fees, fair enough. But I was under the impression that the account fee was £30 per month and incorporated into my payments screen transactions so how I've been charged over £200 out the blue with no breakdown is odd.

I has hoping to use Amazon to start an online selling account as one small form of income while I work on other projects/businesses I have but have so far paid out more than I have received with a very unclear transaction view that does not in any way explain extra costs or charges such as this £200 fee along with incredibly poor customer service.

I have now lost stock due to staff incompetence or Amazon having an inadequate working environment leading to issues. The box in questions only contained 24 units they counted 18 and refused a refund, after losing 10 out of 25 of another box of stock and refunding that one? Arbitrary. I'll also point out I've only sent in 3 shipments, the only one recorded properly I labelled every item myself

I have used the account less as times gone on as it seemed more and more like Amazon are just trying to extract as much as possible from the sellers they claim are the lifeblood of the company. What an odd way to operate.

If anyone else has had ongoing stock and/or fee issues I'd advise you to also go to a 3rd party to look into it as Amazon are happy to write off all there own incompetence because its easier for them and its the sellers who lose out.

There is no set account fee to sell on Amazon. You obviously signed up for the professional selling plan when you registered. You can be on the individual selling plan where you pay an additional small fee (90p) per sale.

To downgrade your selling plan you go to Settings - Account info - Your Services - Manage.

As for your other issues - I cannot help, except to say that you maybe need to check your payment reports, which should tell you what the charges are for.

I am not sure that Trading Standards will be able to do anything, you need to address this with Amazon. (IMO).

Are you sure your advertising costs havent just been billed for the end of the month? or have you signed up to VAT services for example?

It is not really a Trading Standards Issue to be fair. If you have lost stock or been charged excessive fees this is a contractual matter between you and Amazon.

Your first port of call would be Seller Support. If they can't resolve it then escalate it to the Leadership team. If they can't resolve it then consider a Letter Before Action and Legal Action to recover your money.

What I would say is stock losses do happen on receipt. Normally escalating these to the Managing Director Email results in a reimbursement.

With the fees. You have the £30 fee plus referral fees on every sale. If selling by FBA you have storage and Fulfilment Fees.

If you use advertising this is chargeable.

Most common reason for a one off large fee those is signing up for VAT Services. Some sellers do this mistakenly and don't realise they have done it.

Have you accounted for all the fees?
