Urgent Appeal Regarding Misclassification of VAT Status - Case ID: 9565546872

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to seek assistance regarding an ongoing issue that has significantly impacted my business operations on Amazon.

My concern revolves around the misclassification of my VAT status by Amazon. Despite being a VAT-exempt seller, Amazon has erroneously categorized my account as a VAT-registered seller. This misclassification has persisted for over two months, despite my repeated attempts to rectify the situation through official channels.

I initially opened a case with Amazon regarding this matter, providing all necessary documentation to support my VAT-exempt status. However, despite assurances and promises to resolve the issue, there has been no concrete action taken to correct the misclassification. Each time I inquire about the status of my case, I am met with generic responses stating that the matter has been forwarded to internal teams for investigation.

This misclassification has had severe repercussions on my business. Not only have I encountered difficulties in managing my tax obligations accurately, but it has also led to confusion among customers and potential loss of sales. Moreover, the prolonged delay in resolving this issue has caused undue stress and frustration, adversely affecting my confidence in Amazon's support systems.

I am writing to the Seller Forum community as a last resort, seeking guidance and assistance in resolving this matter expediently. I urge any fellow sellers who have experienced similar challenges or have insights into navigating such situations to share their advice and recommendations.

Additionally, I implore Amazon's representatives who may be part of this community to prioritize and expedite the resolution of my case (Case ID: 9565546872). It is imperative for the sustainability of my business that this issue is addressed promptly and accurately.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Your support and guidance are greatly appreciated.

A couple of important questions: Do you live in UK ? If not do you store your goods in UK for FBA ?

If you are not a UK resident, and DO store your goods here, then you DO have to be VAT registered. The £85/90K threshold does not apply to non-UK residents.

You don't appear to be a UK citizen and aren't living in the UK. Having a virtual office in the UK doesn't mean you are a UK business for VAT purposes.

VAT exemption on Amazon has a very narrow definition (not really applicable outside of Amazon) and it doesn't seem as though you qualify.
