Amazon competing with Temu, what will happen to non Chinese third party sellers?
If you search on Google 'Amazon competing with TEMU' you will find a few articles that claim that Amazon US will have cheap products imported straight from China from next autumn. They will have a 7-10 days delivery. At the moment It doesn't sound like the UK will be affected but the danger is still there, especially for those who sell Chinese imports. As I said other times, I don't think that your average consumer is only motivated by a fast delivery, many people can wait a few days more if it means paying a lot less. It looks like TEMU has been hurting Amazon enough to force it to change strategy. I just wonder what people think and how detrimental that could be to the average UK based seller?
One thing I have learnt while marketing and selling products online, you need to adapt quickly and have a business model that is flexible enough to absorb changes.

The biggest threat to UK based sellers is already here when Amazon and Ebay invited Chinese sellers onto the local marketplace.
What sellers don't realise, that it only costs Chinese sellers a few pence to ship from China to UK under the Universal Postal Union who treats them as a third world country. But when it reaches the UK, Royal Mail have to spend £17 in actual costs to get a letter up to Aberdeen. Who pays for that? You and I have seen massive increases in costs and extra surcharges over the last ten years.
I was told by a postman, that Royal Mail have a big distribution centre which only processes Chinese mail; which they then put a Royal Mail label on the parcel. So when everybody buys from Temu, we are absorbing those costs in higher postage prices.
I can tell by my own sales, that customers are buying my products on Amazon because they know that they will get it next day. If my delivery time is extended by a couple of days, the sales disappear.
