Do I need ASIN printed on my product?

I am a producer releasing a brand new item. I am getting a GS1 barcode for it (GTIN) that will be printed on the box. When I register the product with Amazon, I guess I get their ASIN. Do I need to print that ASIN and attach it to my stock? That means my box would have both barcodes, i.e. GTIN and ASIN? Or is everything going to be tracked by my unique GTIN? Does GTIN need to be of certain size like ASIN requirements or just standard size GTIN that would go to any shop? Also, except of item name, new condition and colour, do I need any other information in addition to the barcode? Thank you.

You wouldn’t put the ASIN on your item, and you don’t need to put “New” on either since a GTIN tracked item is considered to be in new condition. You’d need to use FNSKUs for used items. The product name and its colour should be clear from the packaging

Using the GTIN means your items will be commingled, and not all items can be commingled so would need tracking using an FNSKU. In any case it’s best to use FNSKUs as this tracks which products are yours. If you use commingled inventory and another seller sends in defective items and they get sent out as your sale you could get negative feedback, a hit to your performance metrics, and in extreme cases banned from selling. FNSKU barcodes are generated when you convert the item to FBA and select “Use Amazon Barcode” instead of “Use Manufacturer Barcode”.

And can you get FNSKU without having GTIN or do I need to then first get GTIN, register it with Amazon and they will issue me with FNSKU?

Thanks Barry. Yes GS1 was the plan as I know there are some dodgy companies there. Not taking any more of your time tonight but I cannot thank you enough. Thank you very much for the advice. I can let ‘Santa’ know you’ve been super helpful this year  take care.
