Automated invoice generation
I enabled my account to have Automated invoice generation and according to my Amazon Seller Account this went live on the 9th of May 2023. However a customer contacted me today to ask for an invoice. Everything says that I have automated invoices on my account. Speaking with Amazon Chat . . . Kapil and Hashmit . . .
Well 10 minutes of copy paste from Kapil who really gave no explanation as to why this customer is asking for an invoice . . . to be passed to Hashmit who asked for 2 minutes to read the 10 minute thread with Kapil to then . . . end the chat.
I’m left manually uploading an invoice for every order ! So I’m not sure where to turn !

sometimes I get them as well, they maybe want an invoice on your headed paper rather than Amazons plain ones, or if you are supplying receipts (without vat) rather than invoices, they maybe (incorrectly) think that if they contact you directly they can get a vat invoice
Amazon will also only start generating receipts from the date it went live onwards, it does not got back through all your orders, so maybe your customer is asking for a receipt from an order dated before 9th May?
Have you checked that invoices are being uploaded for you? (if you go into a completed order you should have a manage invoice button which has the amazon invoice there for you to download if you want)
Also you don’t need to upload invoices for every order, just those from Business customers (or that ask you for them)
Really asking Amazon why your customer is asking for a receipt is asking a bit much of them, they are useless at the best of times, but they are definitely not psychic. If you want to know why your customer is requesting an invoice, did you try asking the customer?

If you are VAT registered then don’t do that. Amazon will/should have raised a VAT invoice and raising a 2nd invoice that isn’t a copy of the first would be against the VAT rules.
Either way, the order should have an invoice raised, it is probably that the customer doesn’t know how to download it. Alternatively, if you are not VAT registered, they might have downloaded the ‘receipt’ and think it isn’t a VAT invoice and be chasing you for something you cannot produce?
I believe automated invoices reside in your tax document library (but cannot check as I don’t use it.)
