Changing Business Entity Name for VAT Enrolment Service
I have just got registered for VAT after being selling on Amazon for about a year. I am sole trader and the VAT registration is under my personal name whilst the Amazon Seller Account is under a trading name with me as the authorised person. My VAT calculation service got rejected because of the name difference and i will now have to change my name in seller account to match that on the HMRC.
My question is are there any issues when changing the business legal name here? Its not a transfer to a different legal entity as i am still a sole trader with the same registration number. And what documents are Amazon likely to ask to verify the same.

I really think you should have registered for VAT under your trading name.
If you try and change the account name , if it is allowed it will trigger verification all over again.
Is you seller bank account in your personal name or your trading name? I think the answer to that will tell you what your Amazon seller account should be called and in what name you should have registered with HMRC

I went through the same thing and there were no issues with Amazon from changing the name. Nor did they ask for anything from me that i recall.

As a sole trader your amazon account should be in your name not your trading name as if they were to ask for any documents from HMRC these wouldnt match
